WR: Bridal updates, please.

Re: WR: Bridal updates, please.

  • We haven't been doing much recently because we have almost everything done. But I did get my dress last weekend!

And we are going to start looking for suits for my fiance this weekend. Which I think is really exciting!

Our next step is finding a rental company to rent linens and chairs from.

[QUOTE]Well you guys already know that I have my dress and veil ordered and we out a deposit on the venue and set a date. I've been talking with a catering company. What do you guys think about inviting an ex boyfriend? I dated him in middle school and high school. He was my best friend in high school and I still consider him one of my best friends and I am one of his best friends. My dating relationship ended with this guy over 5 years ago. However, he is my most recent ex before getting together with FI. I will be inviting another ex, but he is married and his wife is pregnant. Since this boyfriend is not recent, he has no problem with me inviting him and his wife. With this other guy, it seems to be because he is my most recent ex. He says if I invite this guy, he gets to invite a girl he at least made out with. I told him as long as it isn't ex1 or ex2, fine. The reason I don' t want ex1 or ex2 there is because they both tried to ruin my relationship with FI. My ex never tried to ruin our relationship. I actually think they have a lot in common and would get a long. He has been a wonderful friend to me over the years and I would like him there. FI and I decided we would finish this conversation another day. I don't want to start a fight with him about it, but it would mean a lot if this friend who I still consider one of my best friends would be there. What do you guys think? I may delete this paragraph later on today.

  • I love seeing everything. I always thought it would be fun to be a wedding planner, but then I think about bridezillas and push that idea away.

I really like those "planning boards", the collages that show the overall concept.

Lately, I've been digging the sig pictures of flowers since I don't know much about them. It's fun to see the colors and designs people come up with, and I'm learning about all different kinds of flowers. My new favorite is slightly-opened peonies.

    Wow I love your dress!

    Anniversary

  • I could really go for some cake right about now. I get the feeling that the salad I packed for lunch is going to pale in comparison.

Rae- My instinct is to say don't invite your ex. But I'm basing this off of HIMYM, so you should probably take that into consideration. Since you've started dating your FI, how close have you and ex been? Do you see each other often? Have FI and ex met each other before?

  • FI and I decided to go with a smaller wedding. All the costs were making my head explode, and the political BS in our families was making me nauseaus. We've chosen to do a very small 20 person Disney Wedding, with a formal sit down meal, and then a dessert party under the epcot fireworks.

I wont know an official date until February but right now we are still on track for the date we'd like 10/13. We will be married under the Sea Breeze Point Gazebo. Dinner location is still to be decided, but I'm leaning towards Citricos.

    My other checks include:

Cake Topper Bought, and arrived! It is perfect!
    Dress bought!
    Guest List Chosesn
    Wedding Bands Chosen

Once we are able to book we will have checks for ceremony, music, photography, and cake. I will then find an officient, and book the restaurant.

I have only seen him a couple times since he lives out of state and he is now in the military. We talk/email. I gave FI a chance to meet him when ex wanted me to go to lunch, but FI decided not to go. I went to ex's dad's funeral. Before and after the funeral, I would be the only friend he would talk to about his dad and how he felt.

[QUOTE]Stina: I'm sorry your little sister wasn't more excited to be in your bridal party! Hopefully she'll be more excited as it gets closer. And hopefully she'll get her priorities straightened out soon.

I highly doubt it. She's already told me things she refuses to do. I understand that they are not required to do things like the shower and all that crap but I was pissed when she told me she's absolutely not helping my MOH out (she wants to punch my sister now). I had a three month notice between the time she asked me and her wedding and I planned her shower in a month (from the date I was asked to her shower) and her bach party shortly after because none of her other BMs were doing anything. She was a bridezilla the whole time and never thanked me. I asked her to stand up in June since I know she doesn't have a ton of money thinking she'd know she had over a yr to slowly save up, but everything is always about her.

    The dress...

My dress is all lace and beading, the BMs dress the tops have lace, and the color is the same.

  • I wouldn't blanket say 'I wouldn't invite an ex' but if my fiance had a problem with it, unless it was like my BEST FRIEND EVAH, I wouldn't invite him. When I think of all the people I really wanted and needed to have at my wedding, some good friends didn't make the cut. That's just how it is, and in the grand scheme of things, will it matter if this guy isn't there?

Our friend Zola has offered up 'Wedding You Like to Know' followed by a dirty look and 'Weddingleberries'. We are heartily considering having the wedding party wear sombreros. This was actually the idea of one of the groomswomen and has been rapidly embraced by the others in the wedding party.

I bought my flower girl's dress because I wanted a specific one, and it wasn't a reasonable price. I bought her shoes too those were like $9. She was soooo proud of her dress and the most serious flower girl I have ever heard of. So. Freakin'. Cute.

  • Thank you for the sewn-in cups idea for my dress! Hopefully it will work. I'm 'slightly' busty, so I'll have to discuss with the alterations lady. I wore an open-back dress to the US Naval Academy Ring Dance years ago and wore those stick-on bra cup things, but that was before 3 babies. I need all the help I can get.

Puzzle-your dress is gorgeous, just love it!

Stop talking about cake. It's killing me, Smalls.

  • I've gotten a lot done lately. Here's a list with some pics!

Flowers: I'm going to have a grouping of pink/white peonies, 1 large succulent, some silver leaf and orange ranunculus. My 2 BMs will have babie's breath tied with twine. The aisle will be lined with galvanized buckets filled with more babie's breath.

My mom is going to sew my 2 flower girl's dresses for me. We have to go shopping for a pattern and fabric, but I'm thinking something like this but with orange/pink plaid fabric.

We got our menu all picked out a couple weeks ago. We're having a chip and popcorn bar for our appetizers. It will include beet/sweet potato/potato chips and also a number of flavored popcorns. Super fun!

We'll be having 3 "bars" as food stations where people can make their own unique selections. It will be a Wedge Salad Bar, a Macaroni Bar and a Grits Bar. The main entrees will be a ribeye and chicken carving station. To top it all off, our caterer makes a special Basil Limeade. I'm super excited about this! It will be fun for the kids, but we can also have Basil Limeade Margaritas as our signature drink!

For the cake, i'm really not sure of the flavors yet. I really want a simple, rustic design...and this is what i've come up with so far.

I am paying for her dress now. It wasn't budgeted in since most people plan on buying their own kid's clothing for occassions and my brother is paying for his son's tux. However, since I would be even more devistated if she wasn't in the wedding, I am paying for it. I told her I get the dress back after the wedding to try and sell on craigslist and whatever money is made on it will go in her account that I started for her when she was born.

  • Allusive everything sounds so amazing. I love the idea of a chip and popcorn bar!

    Anniversary

  • Allusive- I love your chip and popcorn bar idea!

Stina- You are like the best aunt ever! I feel like a second rate aunt in comparison.

Rae- It sounds like you and ex have a very close friendship. I would hope that your FI is able to look past any doubts he has and allow your friend to attend. I don't understand the whole, "if ex gets invited I get to invite a chick I've made out with too." That seems very petty.

I want to read everyone's stuff, but I'm too excited to patiently read!

WE BOOKED OUR HONEYMOON LAST NIGHT!!!! WE'RE GOING TO NYC AND BOSTON!!! IT'S HAPPENING!!!!

I've been sooo freaking stressed out over whether or not we could afford a honeymoon, but it's happening!! We're doing it!! Flights, train, hotels, all booked!!

Tuxes also got chosen last night. FI is renting this beauty:

And the GM are wearing these:

We're going for our cake tasting on Tuesday. We're going for something along the lines of this:

The BM's have ordered their dresses (all but one) and are as follows:
    MOH:

    BM A:

    BM C:

    BM K:

    And BM L:

They're from Alfred Angelo in Cherry.

Once Elle finishes up invitations, we'll be ordering those, hopefully next week some time.

Oh, and latest pic from my dress fitting:

And this is what is going to go on the waist line. You can kind of make it out in the pic above. This isn't the actual flower going under the broach. It will be a bright red.

I think that's all I've got. I've AWd my shoes, but I don't have any pics of them on this computer. They're super pretty.

Now to go read everyone else's!

ETA: We have our wedding bands but I don't have pics of either. Those were on the old phone.

We also booked our DJ. You can check them out here. They're amazeballs. I jumped up and down when FI called to say we got them.

And flowers are set-ish. My florist is amazing and is working with our super super super strict budget and making something similar to this for me:

And something similar to these white ones for the girls:

I'm stalled out on centerpieces, but I'm waiting for a shipment from Shoes to see what I can do with some things that I have.

[QUOTE]I've gotten a lot done lately.
