One more post about registering..

Yesterday FI and I went to complete our registry. After going to Target, we went over to BBB. I was unaware that you actually needed to sit down with a consultant and go over tips and advice. I was a little put off by her snottyness but decided to look the other way and ignore her, as I was hoping it wouldn't be long before she handed over the gun and we were free. Once we went over everything, she handed us the gun, and off we went. Literally we got down one aisle the POOF, this lady appeared again. We kept telling her that we know what we want, we dont need help and we would ask if we needed anything. Apparently she didn't get the hint and follwed us around the store. We tried everything we could do to ditch her (including going to the bathroom) but that didn't even work. When I was registering for my towels, she came over and was like wow, are you sure you want those one? That color isn't really flattering with your skin tone. SERIOUSLY!! Who in the hellllllll gives a crap if the brown towels don't flatter my face, I was completly baffeld. Needless to say, probably will never step foot in that place again. GRRRRRRR OK vent over.

Through all of this she did say something to me that presents my question to you ladies. She asked if we have any kids, which we have 2, and she said to make sure we register for items for them as well. They are part of the celebration and it supposedly is very common for couples that have children to register for things for their child(ren) to keep them included.

This would have never crossed my mind, but it makes sense. On the other hand, I have NEVER seen a registry that included childrens items. So I am asking for your thoughts...would you do it, would you not, and why??

haha that girl sounds weird! That would greatly turn me off, also. Our first registering experience (at Crate and Barrel) sounds like it was a lot more fun than yours at BBB!!

As far as registries, I would view them as what you would like/want to set up your household together. I could see a few kid-centric items on there for the household, or family games, etc. I guess I have not seen much for kid items on registries though either.

I had a crazy lady too. I was alone and my mom was suppose to come rescue me but got distracted at Old Navy next door.... LoL .... anyway I digress, I registered for things for my dog (we have no children) one of the items was purchased but the rest were not. I don't find it odd to get things for your children.

I view it as you are a provider for your children so its things for 'you' that help you provide. I may be way over thinking it though :)

I have seen kid stuff on wedding registries before for couples that had kids (together or from previous relationships, etc.) and I thought it was a nice way to have the kids included.  I would be perfectly happy to buy something for the bride and groom's children for a wedding gift!

FI has two kids, so we registered for new bedding for them, a few other things for their bedrooms, and some games. I feel that it shows that marriage is about us as a family and not just me and FI.

Thanks for your input...it makes complete sense to me now, just not at the time that she mentioned that. If she didn't say that, I would have never thought of that. Even thought, FI and I are buying our children a special gift (other than FG and RB gifts). Thanks ladies.

If I saw children's items, I think I'd honestly be a little put off. If they are items for the whole family, then that is ok. But all kinds of toys and kids stuff doesn't sound appropriate.

There are so many different registries out there now, I wouldn't think much of it if I saw kid things on a wedding registry. But, I also see how some could think it was gift grabby. I'd just be conscious of what you register if it's for your kids.

Yeah. I've heard a lot of negative reviews about the registering process at BBB. At least their return policy is pretty flexible!

I agree with PPs. I think it's ok if it's more family-type stuff, and your registry is mostly non-kid stuff. People register for stuff that's interesting to them, and I'm hoping your kids fall into that category ;)

We used BBB too, and our lady was a little annoying as well. She actually told us that she's single and lives with her cats, so I'm sure she was just lonely - and FI is good at flirting with older ladies. But we ended up going to a different store location to finish the next day because we couldn't handle her for more than 5 hours!

About adding things for the kids; FI has two little kids and I added things for them. It was all stuff that we'd all use together though, like sand toys and games. Oh, and a super cute shower hose so they can shower by themselves! :)
