So, it's time to finalize the food. We aren't having a "caterer" but we are going to pay a couple that my Mom is friends with who "cater" small events and are great cooks. We are purchasing all the food ourselves and fixinging some of it... They are cooking some and serving at the reception.
We decided to do heavy hors d'oeuvres / buffet style. Here's our menu:
-prime rib & provolone sandwiches with some kind of sauce (my dad is providing the prime rib-he has a farm)
-turkey and swiss sandwiches with a honey mustard sauce
-country ham biscuits (mom has already made and frozen 500 biscuits)
-chicken tenders (original and buffalo)
-possibly shrimp cocktail (if it is in the budget)
-spinich & artichoke dip with melba toast
-bowtie pasta with veggies that my Mom's friend makes, delicious!
-cheese balls with crackers or a cheese tray
-vegetable tray with dip
-fruit tray with dip
+cake
+drinks-- beer, wine, punch (or lemonade), and water.
What do you ladies think? I know it's not a "meal" and it's pretty laid back. Do you think I have enough?
