September 2010 Weddings

wah, need comfort (and a swift kick in the pants)

1)it is only 12:40.  i plan on leaving a little early (cannot concentrate at all!) but i was hoping it was like 2ish or something (i need the cash).  i cant believe it is only 12:40
2)i am totally freaking out about earl.  it is supposed to hit new england on saturday.  fvicking great.  i have a huge knot in my stomach about it.  mostly, i know everything will be ok EXCEPT that about 30% of our guests are camping for the wedding...i would feel so awful if they had to camp in the rain!  i just cannot feel better about this.  ugh.  huge pit in my stomach.

Re: wah, need comfort (and a swift kick in the pants)

  • Look at it this way...............mother nature could meet the fairy godmother and the storm path could change between now and sat and swing more out into the ocean and not hit you at all!!
  • I'm sure it will all be ok, you know how fast these hurricanes can change paths. Just talk to your venue and make sure they have everything planned out in case of a little rain and your camping guest may have to go bunk with someone in a hotel.

  • Shauni, I'm praying SO hard for that stupid hurricane to stay away, it just has to.  I did hear on the weather this morning that there is a cold front moving in from out west that's *supposed* to push it back out to sea.  I refuse to believe anything else at this point.  :-)

Maybe you guys should start seeing if anyone has extra tarps, stakes, etc. that you can offer to your guests who have to be camping.  It's not much, but at least it should help a little.

  • Jessica, our guests are only camping Sat night.  and i know it looks like it *should* be ok by then, but still, i feel sick about it.  about the whole situation.

<div>Yep, and that's understandable. Like PP, I say get some extra tarps in case the ground is still wet and honestly? Turn it into an awesome party! People are going to be SO happy to be out and about after any weather moves on through that I bet your wedding is going to be ROCKING!</div>

  • We can all do an "anti" rain dance in your honor.
I'm pretty sure it involves skipping around backwards, shaking your bum and slapping it with one hand and chanting "Go Away Earl"
I'm doing it in my office right now. Co-workers be darned!

  • marisalk, i love it!
  • I will use the anti-rain dance as my evening cardio tonight. I hope it's ok, and people will deal if it's not. xoxo I'd be a wreck too.

  • Good luck!  Some of my best camping trips have been in the rain.  Perhaps it won't be so bad?  I would buy a bunch of extra tarps for people, just in case.
  • Shauni~  Let's face it. If it were going to be 98 degrees and humid, you'd be worried about the camping guests as well. They chose to camp, knowing Mother Nature is unpredictable. You can do what PP's suggested to try, but you can't change the path of the hurricane.

That being said, I hope it turns and you have fantastic weather!  Either way, after this weekend you'll be a wife, and that's all that really matters.

  • 1) I can't believe that you are getting married in 4 days! I'm jealous and excited and praying that Earl goes away and lets you have your day.

    2) You and your guests will have a blast no matter what!
