Menu cards for Buffet?

I was wondering is it normal to have a menu card at each place setting for a buffet? Is it preferred or not necessary they can see when they get there?

What if I label the food in a pretty way at the buffet table?

Thanks!

We wrote the menu on antique-looking windows and displayed them on easels by our buffet.  I think the menu was also on display by the bar at the cocktail hour so people could get a preview (our venue did this on their own).  I don't think that individual menu cards are necessary.  You could make a few table tents to put on each table if you wanted to let people know in advance.

Agreed, I don't think they are necessary for a buffet. I do like the idea of having maybe one card with the menu on each table.  Or have an easel up near the buffet line with the menu.

I am only doing single menus because I wanted to fill the space where the plate would be and let people know as a heads up order of appearance of food so when they get up there, no questions and stalls on getting their food. It will also list the 6 types of dessert as I am sure by knowing type they will figure it out on the table.

We are having a buffet, and I am using menus at each place setting. Below is a mockup with the napkin wraps I made, with the menu inserted.

I just didn't want the tables to look empty when the guests arrived, LOL.
