Favors- per guest? or per couple?

Hello ladies,
For my wedding favor my fiance and i have decided to give out coffee mugs. It will be designed with 2 hearts with "All You need is Love"
My concern is do I give out 1 favor per couple? or per guest?
I want to do per couple because I don't have 2 of the same mug in my house. Am I wrong?
I don't want people to think I am cheap by giving one favor per couple, but for this type of gift I would think one per couple would make sense.
Any advice is appreciated.

    You should do one per person. In all honesty, I think it would appear very cheap if you did one per couple.

    I think with something for individual use or consumption - like a mug or an edible - you need to do one favor per person.  I think the only time you can get away with one favor per invite/couple is when the favor can be shared easily - a full-sized bottle of wine, a regular jar of jam or jelly, etc. 

    I'm also at the other end of the spectrum, I prefer having at least a matched/coordinating pair.

    If you are going to do this, then do one per person.  As PP said, one per couple will look cheap.

    But you might want to rethink this altogether.  While you may like mis-matched coffee mugs, not everybody does and you could end up with a lot left over at the end of the evening.  Why not take the graphic you are planning for the mugs and print it on labels that you could then use to seal bags of something edible?

    I would say do one per couple just because I don't really need two of the same coffee mug--especially since neither me or my husband drink coffee.

    I'm also in the "do something else" camp but I also think that one per couple is fine if you go with this.  I think it needs something else though honestly--like maybe fill it with candy and wrap it with cellophane and tie it with a bow or something.

    <div>Ditto this 100%.  In all honesty, I don't take trinket favors from weddings.  It isn't that I am trying to be mean, but I have no use for odd coffee cups, candles, coasters, etc.  Especially if it is personalized.  I leave it so that maybe someone else who would like extra will be able to take mine.  If I can't eat it, it usually stays behind.</div>

    As a guest, I would probably take this favor home as not to appear rude, however it would end up in the trash.  I hate mismatched things.....all of my dinnerware, including mugs, matches.  Skip the trinket and go for something edible.

    I am in the "pick something else" category also.   If you insist on going this way, I would get one per guest, but honestly, I'd probably toss it or it would end up in a yard sale or donated to the salvation army or something.  I have matching dishes with coffee mugs, and I imagine most adults do. (coffee mugs even come with cheapo dishes).   So, the chances of me keeping 1 or 2 mismatched mugs are pretty slim.

    Per person. Sometimes my fiance and I don't like to share. Especially if we both really like something.

    We are doing one per couple/family. But our favor is also the escort card (a luggage tag). We will also be putting lots of hershey kisses and hugs one the table for all the guests, especially the kids, to have something.

    I've pretty much tossed/lost/broke any trinkety favors I've gotten from weddings. I've eaten the edible ones. :)
