I love it, especially in the winter.

  • I'm having my bridesmaids in blue and pink, and then my maid of honor is wearing a very classy black dress with a silver sash. All of our colors are tied in, and she stands out.

I think they can look very classy, as long as you go with something that is flattering, instead of skanky. Ive seen bridesmaid dresses that should have been in porn.

  • I wore black for my sister's fall wedding, and it looked gorgeous.
  • Classy and beautiful.  Just don't do it for, like, an outdoor wedding in the middle of the summer.  :)
  • Black is a great way to go, if you say like knee length and black, so the girls can find something they're comfortable in and within their price range! I say go for it :)
  • I don't like it, but I'm more traditional.

  • I am on the fence about this. For my brothers wedding, at the end of June on a 100 degree day standing in the wide open sun, in a heavy a-line, black satin gown, i sweated through it. (Then again my brother, the groom, passed out during the ceremony in his tux).I hated wearing such a heavy black dress on a day like that and just the sheer weight of it made it very uncomfortable for the rest of the night. For my sisters wedding in may I'm wearing a black satin dress that has a straight skirt to it, i love the neck line, but hate the overall look of the dress, once again I am going to be outside in the wide open sun on a hot day, ill let you know how it goes this time around. Honestly, I like the look but I am just not a personal fan. If I was to do a black bridesmaid dress it would be chiffon or something appropriate to the weather. I guess I'm bias by experience.

  • Mine wore black cocktail dresses with colored sashes. I just attended a wedding where they wore long black gowns and carried red roses. Very classy and timeless.

  • I like them, just not for summer outdoor weddings. Well, unless they are short and made of a light material, perhaps.

<div>This is what I'm doing.  I gave them all a suggested knee length requirement but said if they all found dresses that were around the same length I was fine with it.  </div>

  • My BMs were in black strapless gowns.

I have no idea how their attire could be considered solemn.  I don't know anyone who wears a strapless gown while mourning.   They also wore shawls for the ceremony in hydrangea hues.
  • My BMs are wearing black.

We are matching it with fuschia flowers and maybe shoes for a pop of color.  It looks lovely in my head!

This is what we're doing as well.  I'm sure they're all going to look gorgeous, and just as important, they will feel gorgeous since they are in a dress they picked and feel confident in.  I love the way mismatched dresses look together!
