Bachelorette Party Ideas

Does anyone have any suggestions for bachelorette parties that are affordable?  My sister is my Maid of Honor and she just graduated college (and she's not starting her job until September) so I don't want to have anything ridiculous.  I figured it could be a fun low-key weekend just to get away, maybe get our nails done, go out to dinner...

I'm just at a loss.  The only bachelorette parties I've gone to were in Atlantic City and it was very expensive.

Mine was a casual dinner, a comedy club in NYC and then back to a local NJ bar for some drinks.

I've never actually attended a bachelorette as a guest, but most girls I know have done a night at the bars or clubs. I don't know many people in real life who do an Atlantic City trip, let alone a whole weekend of activities.

I only really heard of bigger bachelorettes (plus bigger showers and weddings in general) once I started chatting here. Maybe it's because I'm from a less affluent area of the state?

NYC and AC are very expensive, i dont think Ive ever gone to a bachelorette party that cost me less than $400 and those were the ones that only last 1 night, Ive been to some where Ive spent close to $1k for weekend getaways.

If youre looking for something inexpensive, try and stay local. Or you can do something fun like go to the hudson valley or long island and go wine tasting, that will last all day and be inexpensive as long as you have a designated driver or even think about getting a car service.

We are going out to dinner, and then to The Breaksfast Club (80's night) for drinks and dancing. It will be as expensive as people choose to make it, depending on what they eat and drink, and the club only costs $10 to get in.

For mine we went to a spa (some people went all out with facials while others just got a manicure. We then went out to a family style restaurant in the city, followed by going to see Rock of Ages, and finally went for some drinks at a NYC bar. We didn't do an over night.

For mine we went to Lucky Strikes in Philly.
This was the Bachelorette Part Package that we got.  It was less than 50$ a girl.
2 Hours Bowling + shoe rental
Key West Chicken Skewers and dipping sauce
    Roasted Plum Tomato Pizza
    Caesar Salad
    Midi Turkey Burgers
    Hosted Beer & Wine

We went out to an Irish pub type bar and then another bad after. We got a hotel in Cherry Hill that was less than 25$ a girl for a HUGE suite.  The taxi in and out of the city was 60$ total.

Oh!  I love the idea of Lucky Strike!  My friends did something similar to what CEOwife described at a Lucky Strike in Boston for my 21st birthday... we had an awesome time and then went to a bar afterwards.

That's so creative!  I like the bowling idea and I like the spa idea, too!  Thanks girls!

We did the whole AC weekend thing, which can add up, but some ideas we've done for birthdays, etc in the past which were just as fun and cheaper:
-do a local bar crawl- if you know any under 21 year olds (we used my cousin) offer to pay them an hourly rate to be your driver and take someones car who can hold everyone (we borrowed a relatives van) and then its just like having a limo or taxi but a lot cheaper- then just hit up some fun local bars that dont include cover charges
-you could spend the day at a public beach and then go to a bar at night and have a DD to drive you home
-sometimes staying in can be just as fun- you can make crazy cocktails, watch girl mvoies, play silly B party games, etc

-just avoid limos, crazy cover charges, and bars with overpriced drinks

-or if you do want to do AC- drink mostly while playing penny slots since the drinks are free there (and if you play one penny at a time, it doesnt cost a lot) haha

You can actually do AC in an affordable way if you're smart about it.. usually Resorts or the Trump Marina have the lowest prices for a room, and you can usually book through Orbitz with a promo code to save some extra money. You can drink in your room to save money, and try to get on a guest list at a bar (usually by Facebooking the Bar), so you don't have to pay a cover.
