NWR: Birth Control post pill side effects-

To start: Sorry if this is too much information but I need some assistance (support) yall!

So we are getting married  April 7th  and want to spend some married time together but want to start having kids SOON  (like April 9th LOL) after we are married. I have been on the pill since I was like 22 ( or 24- cant remember) but for at least 8 years, I am 32 now. This month I wasn't planning on it but, I didn't make it to the pharmacy to pick up the next pack, a few days turned into an entire week and now two weeks later I am off the pill.  Fi and I slightly agreed not to have sex before we get married (slightly because we were not really have much sex before and now we have been talking to our counselor about it and we have decided to hold off until we get some things really resolved)
so I was like no big deal about the pill, when we are ready I planned to pick up the prescription and start again.

Well after some discussion (and research) I realized maybe I should get off the pill for a few months just to give my body time to be off of medication. Well, This last week was a DOOZY. I was depressed, anxious, I cried 3 or 4 times, barely holding a smile together, just for work,  had no desire to do anything. In Walmart yesterday, I had dizzy spells and had to get something to eat from the McDonalds because I felt like I was going to fall out.  I just thought I was having cold feet and was getting nervous. Last week was our 6 months mark and my birthday. I didn't know what was going on. I was praying like a madwoman and thought I was under some sort of attack.  FI was so wonderful and gentle with me all week but I know it was hard on him.

So I wondered have any of you ladies gotten off the pill and had any side effects? I found a link yesterday that had pages and pages of posts from women ranging in age and length of time on the pill stating they were depressed, anxious, had weight gain, their cycle didn't come for months... just really scary stuff. After reading it I felt so much better and realized maybe more was going on. I believe this was my first time being off the pill since I started.

If you have ever experienced any side effects getting OFF the pill would you mind sharing about them and how long they lasted?

BTW- I know I can get pregnant, even once, now that I am off the pill and I plan to make a doc appointment today to see what can be done about either changing my pill and preparing to have kids and such. Realistically, we will probably wait at least a year after we get married to have kids.

I have been on the pill since I was 18, except for about 8 months, and I am 36 years old. I didn't have any major side effects, but I did notice that I had MAJOR cramps during my menstrual cycle. I never missed any periods after I stopped taking the pill, so that was not an issue for me.

My Gyno is a Black woman and she told me that you probably want to be off the pill for at least 3-4 months before you start trying to conceive.  The other thing I am glad you raised is that you can get pregnant REALLY fast in the weeks/months right after you stop taking the pill.  Often times, they will put women on the pill for 2-3 months and take them off when they are TTC. Most times, they get preggers lickety split.

Perhaps if you are having major side effects, you should talk to your doctor about a pill with a lower hormone level. That could help you out significantly.

My fiance and I will start ttc on April 1st (our wedding is March 31st) so I went off the pill (i.e didnt start the new pack) this past Saturday .  I researched side effects beforehand and read alot of places that balanced diet and exercise can curb alot of the symptoms.  Im an avid exerciser but my diet could definately stand to be improved.  Since being off the pill I can instantly tell that I am not nearly as lethargic as I was on the pill.  I've heard acne is one of the side effects of going off the pill (specifically Yaz and Yasmin-which I am on) and this is what I am most worried about.  I had a random pimple pop up on my face and back and had damn near had a panic attack.
