Gifts for the ring bearers

My two boys, 6&8 will be in our wedding as the ring bearers. We wanted to get them something special but they are so young and we are afraid they will lose it. I have considered just getting them each a cheaper MP3 player so they can listen to their kids bop music - I think they would enjoy that more than anything "sentimental"... Also need to find gifts for both sets of parents as a thank you...please help! Any ideas would be appreciated :)

Re: Gifts for the ring bearers

  • The MP3 player sounds like a good idea.  It's hard to tell what people will attach sentiment to, so something that you think is sentimental, they might think is junk.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I think that's a great idea for the ring bearers.  My two were brothers, and 3.5 and 5 at the time so I got them this kid-friendly camera that they loved!

For the parents, I would just do a giftcard for a night out or somewhere they love.
  • Thanks ladies...I think if the boys were older we would probably consider something more personal and might later down the line...now I think they would be happy with music - they love to dance and to read :)
  • A really nice copy of one of their favorite books might be good if they like to read; if they're into any classics, maybe you can get them a leatherbound copy.  That's what I did for my bridesmaids.  That's something they're more likely to be able to hold on to.

  • Very true - a very nice book for them to keep and maybe a message on the inside from my FI and myself with a date. Their tastes vary (as you would think boys do - from space and animals for my oldest to knights for my youngest) LOL Thanks!
  • I agree StageManager - it would be wasted to buy something very expensive for boys this age (at least mine)...they will be happy with whatever we get them, I'm sure :) Thanks everyone!
  • Our ringbearer is 3, so a little younger than yours, and LOVES cars of all kinds so we got him a really nice fire truck that looks awesome that he can still play with.  He will actually be carrying it down the aisle, instead of a pillow, with our rings on it.  My FI is a fireman so it worked out perfectly.  :)

  • I love the mp3 idea!  It's also a great way to keep them entertained during some of the pre-wedding and post-wedding activities. I'm planning on also giving the kids in the wedding party activity books that I'm making to help combat boredom while the photographer is doing pre-ceremony shots.

  • I thought I would buy some cheap coloring/activity books for the boys to play with plus they have their DS games for the before and after in case they get bored :)
