Dress fitting timing?

Hello :)

I could use your advice on when to get my final fitting for my wedding dress.  I am going to be out of town for a week and a half before the wedding (moving my FI to Mpls - squeee!).  We will be in town for three days (Sun-Tues) before leaving for our DW.

Would it be best to have my final fitting on the Mon/Tues before I leave, or is it okay to do before I go out of town two weeks before the wedding?

If it helps, I am hoping to work with Louise!

TIA! :)

The woman I am going through told me that we'll have a final fitting about 2-3 weeks prior to the wedding but if for some reason I loose or gain 5+ pounds I need to call her and she will shove me into her schedule because it makes a HUGE difference on your dress!

Is your dress have a corset back? If it is, then you could schedule your last fitting before you move your FI and be fine. Have Louise fit it so you have room to tie it tighter or let it out depending on your weight fluctuation.

Talk to Louise... she often has her own opinion about the timing.

I think my first fitting was like 7 weeks before the wedding, and I had like two or three more after that. She was done with it like a week before the wedding, but I had her hold onto it (I trusted her to take care of it better than I would!) until like the day before.

If I were you, I might recommend that you schedule a fitting before you leave to get your FI... and treat that as your final fitting. Then, see if she's willing to hold onto it until you come back into town. That gives you a little pre-planned wiggle room in case something weird happens and you need to make uber-last-minute adjustments OR you're like me and afraid of ruining your dress with days to spare :-)

Thanks, ladies!  My dress is not corset back.  I will definitely give Louise a call :)

I'm also trying to minimize the amount of last-minute stuff I have to do before we leave for Vegas ;)

I would leave yourself a little bit of time for any last minute adjustments that need to be made to your dress. I was supposed to pick mine up on Tuesday before my Friday night wedding.  I asked to try it on one more time since they had made some tweaks and discovered that NONE of the tweaks had been completed - they had just thrown it back in the racks and forgotten about them entirely.  I was livid to say the least.  They worked on it the next day and stayed open late for me to come and pick it up and I STILL had to tell them to do things like press out the wrinkles they put in it while working on it.  I'm pretty sure my blood pressure in those two days was through the roof stressing about a not finished gown!
