  Soy candles are longer lasting compared to parrafin candles. The duration of tea light soy candles are 7-8 hours. I used them for my reception and they lasted! Soy candles are also safer too. They are a bit more expensive than regular candles but not by a lot. I purchase mines on Etsy but you can easily find them on Amazon.com Check craft stores too.

  I also used battery candles too but those can be expensive if you are using a lot (I bought mine cheap from another bride) They can be reused though so that's a plus. Check ebay for good deals.

  Thanks for your help! I actually really like the ones in the second link and they're not to badly priced. Would the tea lights float? I've never used either and don't really know much about them.

  I have never purchased from Yummicandles but it is worth noting that not all tea light candles float unless stated by the seller. I would definitely inquire with the company or seller and ask about the burning duration time. If you are using a floating candle holder (which is what I did) than that's different but I am thinking you are floating the candles right in the water - it is worth testing it out.

  We're going to have a vase full of water with flowers at the bottom then a candle on top. Not sure what to use. I saw that some tealights float but not sure what makes them float or not.

  I had a 50th birthday party for my mom and we used floating candles in the centerpieces. I got them at Oriental Trading. They were cheap and lasted the whole party (4-5 hours) plus we took them home since there was still a decent amount left to burn.
