NER Four Weddings

Has anyone ever seen an episode where the highest budget DOESN'T win?? Just watched an episode where the couple that won spent 150,000 on their wedding... the other couples they were against all spent under 40K. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does.

Re: NER Four Weddings

  • Im pretty sure I saw at least one episode where a low budget won.  I can think of one in particular that had a backyard wedding with a barbeque and ice cream truck that was the smallest of all the budgets and won.

  • The episode with the "Rockabilly" bride who had a backyard wedding under 5k was an exception. Her wedding was awesome.
  • Last night's episode of Four Weddings Canada - the girl with the 5K budget beat the girl with the 75k budget.

  • Like PP have said, I only saw it once. I do think it’s kind of unfair. It’s one thing to compare a $30K v $40K wedding because the $30K could just be very frugal & good at getting deals. But how do you compare a $100K to a $10K. It’s just not right since the majority of the women on there care only about the vain things & not about the things that really matter (in my opinion).
  • I saw one the other day and the woman with the super expensive lavish wedding came in last.  She was all butthurt when they interviewed her after and said something like I guess they didn't know lavish and finer things in life or something.  I was glad she lost. hahah
  • I don't think I've ever seen the highest budget win, actually.
  • Ditto Joy. All the ones I watch there's always one high-budget bride whose wedding is the sh!ts.
  • Ive seen several where the highest budget didn't win.

  • I've seen both, but it does always bug me when there's one wedding that's twice the price of the others and that one wins.  I think it bugs me not because it's unfair (you can have a fun, awesome wedding in any price range) but because you clearly don't need the free honeymoon if you can spend 100K on a five-hour party.
  • For some reason I thought they only competed against weddings with similar budgets? I guess I haven't paid that close of attention to how much each wedding costs.
  • I saw one last night where the bride was the wedding coordinator for the country club she got married at. So a professional basically. And she was kind of bitchy about everyone else's weddings and nit picky. And I was glad when she didn't win.

Most of the episodes I've seen have a mixture. There's usually a "low" budget wedding, no higher than $12,000, then a couple around $30-40,000, and then one that's $60-100,000. I like seeing the differences, especially when the low-budget wedding is infinitely better than the wedding where they have 300 guests and pull out as many bells and whistles as possible.

I saw that one too, it kind of irritated me how nasty she was.

<div>I saw that one.  I'm glad she didn't win too, especially since she didn't even tell the other brides that she was a wedding coordinator.  They found out from one of her coworkers.  </div>

I was also glad she didn't win! She was so snobby and I didn't think her wedding was that great. who has a mechanical bull?? that's just plain tacky.

That's exactly how I felt about the episode today. The lowest budget was under 5K, they DIY a lot, and it was a gorgeous wedding for what they had to work with. The wedding was very obviously about celebrating their love, and they said they couldn't afford a honeymoon. The 150K budget that won the honeymoon was so over the top a violinist to play ONE song at the reception, actors as "manequins", a "bubble man", showgirl dancers, a guy on stilts... it looked like a circus to me, not a wedding. It just annoyed me that they splurged on SO many unnecessaries with a budget larger than what it cost to buy our house and cars COMBINED, and they took the honeymoon from people who couldn't otherwise take one.

<div>Yeah I really didn't like her at all. Her wedding was nice, minus the bull, but why be such a b!tch at the other weddings?? </div><div>I agree that when you have a $150K wedding, can't you just plan your own honeymoon? </div>
