Spring Weddings 2011

I need an inventory.  I can't keep up with when y'all are getting married in the next few weeks/months on my own, and I want to be appropriately excited for you.

So...please post your date below and I'll update this OP so we have a handy place to refer to.

(also, correct me if I've done the math wrong from y'all's sigs)

ETA: For our purposes here we'll count dates as Spring dates if they fall prior to the Summer Solstice (June 21)

    I suppose you're technically still spring ;)

    Is there numerological or astronomical significance of 5-21? Or is it just the latest in May you can get without a holiday? Or what?  There are a lot of y'all that day.

    <div>I was May 22nd last year, so the same weekend.  We picked it because we didn't want Memorial Day Weekend, we were on NCSU's campus so we didn't want it to overlap with graduations and I like mid-May.  All of our vendors said that that day was crazy busy.  I think it's just really popular bc of how it falls in the calendar. In my family, there are actually a lot of anniversaries between May 19th-22nd. </div>

    Same of what Meredith said. Duke's graduation is one of the 1st weekends in May and UNC's is the other. Also some cousins graduate from other places in the beginning of May. We didn't want to do Memorial day so that left the 21st. My vendors are also telling me that that is a crazy day for them.

    Another tidbit the 5-21-11 is also a day that some religious groups believe to be "Judgement Day". If you do a quick google search lots of stuff comes up. I had no idea about this when we picked 5/21.

    ETA - not that I wouldn't have picked that day if I had known :)

    I'm a Memorial Day Bride and not ashamed of it. I don't know why everyone avoids it. The pros outweigh the cons for us and we haven't had problems.

    We had to pick either May or December since we are both in school part-time.  I love summer and really dislike winter so May won there.  And the 21st was the only weekend in May that the venue we liked had left so that made our decision pretty easy!

    Since you have June 18th, my June 16th qualifies as spring.

    Another bonus to 5-21 is that if your honeymoon is about a week long, when you return the next weekend, most will have Memorial Day Monday off work, so another day to recover!

    We chose May 21st becuase we wanted to get married in may or april and may 21st we will have been together exactly 2 1/2 years, so it was easier for Fi to remember.

    It is definetly a big day for weddings. In my small town there are 3 or 4 others weddings that day and 2 of them have mutual friends, so our friends are going to have to pick which one to go to. All 3 of these weddings (including ours) take place in between 5pm-6:30pm.

    Congrats to all the spring brides, can't wait to see pictures and hear about everyone's day!

    Summer doesn't start until 6/21, so most of June weddings are spring weddings!!

    Barbara, I plan on being at the State Club the day after your wedding for Mother's Day brunch. Maybe some of the excitement will still be in the air! hehe

    I'm May 28th!  We wanted the 21st but it was booked at the venue we wanted so we went with May 28th instead.  So excited!
