Embarassed...

I decided to be a show off and post some DIYs on here...but I accidentally posted it to the Wedding Beauty board! I returned to my computer about an hour later and the tab was still opened, and that's when I realized what I had done. Luckily the picture of my DIY veil and DIY hair flower also had DIY hair and makeup, so it wasn't totally irrelevant, but I'm sure a few of the ladies on the beauty board wonder why I went on about my table numbers, etc.

How embarassing. That'll teach me to be a show off!!!

    That's not dumb! There are a couple ways. So you start with something wooden, and paint it the color that you want to have show through when it's distressed.

    One way is to then rub that base color in some spots with wax and then paint over the base and wax with another color. Then use sand paper, or a hammer, or whatever you want to distress it.

    Another way is to just paint over the base color with another color and then selectively use turpentine.

    Or, the cheater way that I did it. (I guess that mine aren't truly distressed). Is this: I painted the frames teal blue. Then I mixed white paint with water so that it was really thin. Then I painted over the teal with the thinned out white paint and just used different strokes to make how white or how teal it was vary throughout. I did it this way because I didn't have any sandpaper or turpentine.

    LOL. That is too funny. I did that once, but I meant to post on the DIY board and somehow - beats the hell out of me how - I ended posting on the June 2011 board??! WTH? That's not even my month board.

    But on another note...I loved everything in your DIY show off post. lol
