Royal Wedding

Did anybody wake up and watch the royal wedding this morning? I didn't wake up @ 4 am, but I did tune in for a bit when I was getting ready. I watched them say their vows and saw many pictures. I thought Catherine looked so beautiful!!!

What did you all think?

She looked amazing, but I was hoping for more detail in the dress. (Loved the top) I was underwhelmed by the ceremony.

But I loved when she met up with William at the altar, his had a goofy grin and had harry peek. It was adorable. :)

    Agreed!! :) SO sweet :)

I didn't get up early either well any earlier than usual. I turned it on around 6 while I got ready. I actually was getting sick of all the talk and build up in the media for the wedding but then when I turned it on this morning I got TOTALLY caught up in it. It took me forever to get ready. It is making me even more excited for my own wedding :) It will be a slightly smaller affair ;)

Didn't watch it, but totally googled it this morning to see what her dress looked like. I LOVED IT!! When I was shopping for my wedding dress, the options with sleeves were UBER limited, so I'm hoping she'll start a renewed trend with lace sleeves. Donald Trump's daughter had a lace-sleeved gown like 2-3 years ago and they kept saying it was going to be the new trend, but I saw a grand total of 3 gowns in wedding stores that actually had them.

Nothing against any of you with strapless dresses, but I'm ready for that trend to die down a little bit. For real.

I slept in :) I figured I could sneak peaks at the website at work this morning... which I am doing right now! Also love the dress... am super jealous because I was hunting for lace-sleeved dresses back last year when I got mine and had no luck finding anything less than $1500. Now I'm sure they'll be everywhere! Dangit.

Love the dress! Not something I'd choose personally but very appropriate for a royal wedding. I'm actually going to a royal wedding party tomorrow though so I'm trying not to peak too much since I'll be watching it then.. Should be fun, the invites arrived in scrolls with official seals and everyone is wearing ballgowns :)

I was kind of underwhelmed with the dress. I mean, it was absolutely beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I suppose I was preparing to be "wowed" by something amazing and unique, yet still traditional.

I didn't stay up to watch it, but I'm watching recaps online now.

I felt the same about being underwhelmed by the dress. I dunno, I feel like she's looked better is just random outfits that I've seen her in. That's just my opinion, though.

But it was pretty nice to watch.

I just might have to steal her hairdo :-)

I too was a little underwhelmed by her dress. The neckline was too reminiscent of the blue dress she wore when they announced the engagement.

What the heck was with the crazy hats on peoples' foreheads!? Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's (the lady who wore all blue) 'hat' looked like a glorified version of the STD slides we were forced to watch in high school.

I'm kind of trying to understand the "underwhelmed by the dress" sentiment. I mean, yes, it was understated... but what exactly do people expect a modern future-queen to get married in? If she wore some over-the-top St. Pucchi gown or something, the media would have had a field day. And she couldn't exactly go too "fashion forward", because let's be honest, bare-shouldered mermaid dresses just don't mix with Westminster Abbey and processionals that take hours.

The only thing I found to be a let-down was her hair. The girl literally had an army of stylists, and they just left her hair mostly down and straight? Booooring.

I have to agree that I really loved the dress. I thought it was fashionable and modern while still remaining traditional as a future Queen would have to. I thought it was very elegant.

I personally loved her dress :) So adorable! I am so glad that it wasn't strapless like every other dress out there!

I slept in but watched the recaps. I LOVED her dress. Simply and elegant. And she looked so beautiful. I loved when William told her she looked beautiful, and when Harry peeked behind him.

The BM dress was gorgeous as well :0)

I am in LOVE with her dress, she looked so stunning and elegant. I only saw some on-line highlights on the computer this morning, but I totally cried (dang you PMS). I am so hoping that sleeves will make a major comeback now, I just love that look.

Amen! I can't wait for ball gowns to run their course so we can get back to some modesty up top. I think I only was able to try on one gown with sleeves, and it was actually just a long jacket over the gown, and this particular one was ugly.

I haven't watched any of it, but I fully intend to spend the weekend watching recaps of the coverage. I've been checking a couple of my favorite blogs, www.gofugyourself.com and www.projectrungay.com, and they've had a plethora of pictures from it. If you haven't yet, you should check them out just for the cracktacular hats!

I was underwhelmed by her bouquet. You could even see the little plastic handle! It was kind of pathetic.

Would it have killed her/them to get a hair/makeup stylist? She did her own makeup and looked like she always does. Didn't care for the fully lined eye. She also could have done SOMETHING with her hair. Yes, her hair is lovely in it's natural form, but you'd think she do something special with it.

SSaltz - crazy hats are the thing in England, and I kind of love it. They're completely cracked out, but I love that everything else they wear is pretty conservative, then they have a completely insane "hat" stuck right in the middle of their foreheads, and act completely normal about it. I'd love to see some pictures of the crowd sitting down to find out who's was the highest.

Thank goodness for DVR, I've been watching all the coverage all day while working on wedding projects! Her dress took my breathe away! I'm totally and completely in love with it! And her sister looked freaking hot in her bridesmaid dress! The ceremony was a bit long and boring for my taste, but I totally understand that it's required for a royal wedding to go through all that. Ditto Shan, it was so freaking cute when he had Harry peek and give him an update!

I agree with a lot of you, I was underwhelmed by the dress too but I'm sure she had to stick to a lot of rules, i know she had to have sleeves. I thought Pippa(sp?) dress was amazing though. Also, I was picking up my ring from the jewelers and noticed that they started to sell the princess Diana now Kate's ring. It's a beautiful ring..but..it's kinda weird right?

Oh... I realllllly hope you're not referring to the same dress as the one I wore to my wedding, as it fits the same description (minus the ugly part!) Please say that aforementioned ugly dress wasn't at David's Bridal!

I loved my dress, but I fully admit it's fuggo in bright white (I had ivory/champagne)and looks terribly plain without crinoline underneath... so I'm hoping if it is the same dress that maybe you just had a bad sample.

There was a gorgeous Demetrios gown with 3/4 length lace sleeves that I wanted really bad, but it was out of my budget and I could never find a sample to fit into... so I gave up on it. You don't want to go massively over-budget ordering a dress you don't even know for sure will look good on you. But yeah, other than that, it was slim pickings for sleeved dresses when I was looking.

Bridal gowns with sleeves are few and far between. I know at DB, they do have sleeve options for strapless dresses if you want- but I wouldn't wanna know how much they charge for that, lol.

I had to get up for work yesterday, but I watched the replay on TPT last night. I'm a total royal watcher and loved every second.

I agree with the thoughts about the sleeves. I'd have killed for a dress with lace sleeves. My arms are not what I'd like them to be and some sleeves would save a lot of us a little stress. We don't have to go back to the 80s poofs, just a little coverage. I hope that her dress starts something!

I thought it was appropriate for a Royal Wedding, but it wasn't my taste. I also was underwhelmed with both her hair and bouquet.

I actually loved her reception dress though! (minus the jacket which I'm sure she took off at the reception) It reminds me a little bit of my dress too, so that helps:) I also like her hair better here too.

I thought the ceremony dress was regal, elegant, and understated but perfect for the ocassion. The reception dress, while lovely, was a bit boring. It didn't look "special" at all.

Hmm, I think her second dress has a classic look to it, and a little more modern than the ceremony dress. I wouldn't call my dress "boring" or "not special to look at" at all. I prefer simple and elegant looks, like Pippa's dress. But JMO and everyone's tastes are different:)

No, it wasn't at David's Bridal. The one I tried on was a Da Vinci at the Wedding Connection in Maplewood, and it had this gaudy overcoat thing with a cathedral length train and these really long bell sleeves that looked all medival, but in a really bad way.
