Help! Need Senior Care for MIL for destination wedding

I'm at a loss as to where to start, and I'm hoping that the brilliant DFW knotties can help!  My future MIL is an insulin-dependent diabetic with multiple health problems.  She lives in an assisted living facility and gets around pretty well, but needs pretty attentive care.  She loves to travel, and expresses a deep desire to travel "one more time before she goes," as she puts it.  That, coupled with many other factors, was part of why my fiance and I decided on a destination wedding in Mexico.  It's our gift to her.

Because she requires pretty regular care, we want to make sure there's someone there who is medically trained and tasked with caring for her (not an inattentive guest who feels pulled in many directions).  So we'd like to find a nurse aide or professional caretaker to take with us to Mexico.  Of course, we'd pay their way and their fees.  I have no idea where to start looking for such things.  My future MIL is in Norman, OK, so we'd like to look there, too.  Anyone have any suggestions??

We're getting married 10/10/2010 in Maroma beach, Mexico.

Thanks in advance!
Jen

Have you posted this on the nest?  If not, I would do that because they may know more information.

Have you also checked with the assisted living facility she's currently at right now? They might be able to give you answers on who/where.  It might be best if someone she knows and is comfortable with goes, instead of a complete stranger.

Does your FMIL have a social worker?  My dad has one through his dialysis center and they are there to help find these things for you.  For example, my parents were going to Shreveport this weeked and they set up a dialysis session for him somewhere in town.  If dialysis is an issue, I believe there are several resorts that do that and there are some cruises as well.  Like Mariah said, I would also check with her assisted living center manager to see what they recommend.  Good luck!!!!
