In Response to Re: Air Your Grievances! : I think they're very tiny knots right at your scalp.  So I think you can brush....carefully.
    Posted by jcbsjr
I know of two ways they do extensions: sew them in or glue them in.  For the sew in, they cornrow your hair in a circle around your head and then sew the fake hair tracks into the braid.  For glue in, I think they glue the track of fake hair directly onto your real hair very close to the scalp.  I would imagine it's difficult to comb/brush the glued hair, but you can comb/brush, wash, set, etc the sewn in tracks.  These are the ways they do it for black hair, but I don't see why they couldn't do it for other cultures' hair as well.
  • Hmmm... that's them assuming your guests don't have money to quench their alcoholism? Every alcoholic has money to spend on alcohol. And they will, oh boy, they will. Not good logic.

If it makes them feel better: weddings have 'activities'. Eating, toasting, bouquet toss, etc. If you space the activities apart just so, people are actually only drinking for a few hours with ten minute breaks every so often. If some one is getting sloppy, it won't be until the very end of the night, and you can warn bartenders about asking crazy aunts to leave.

(I have a lot of drunkies in the fam, I worried about it a lot and had no hard liquor, everything worked out fine and everyone got crazy at the hotel later)

If they braid the cornrows too tight or sew it in too tight it can be.  But they loosen it up.  I've never personally had weaves, but I've had braided extensions, and you have to make sure they don't braid it too tight.  I've had friends who had to get their weaves re-done becasue it was too tight and caused breakage and/or bumps along the hairline.  But I could always tell when the stylist was braiding it too tight.  The glue can sometimes irritate your scalp too.

I wonder if the woman who paid $1000 was including the price of hair too. Good quality hair can be very expensive, but you can re-use it.  $1000 is still a lot of money though.

I already addressed this earlier, but I joined in 2002 when a coworker was getting married, and I was looking at wedding ideas with her.  I didn't start coming to the boards until this year though when I started planning my own wedding.

AE= alter ego, which I am not.
