Who gets an STD card?

Okay, this may be a really dumb question but I am a novice when it comes to wedding planning.

If I send a save the date card to someone, would that person expect to get an invitation? Personally, if I got a save the date card from a friend then I would expect to get an invitation in the future. I feel like sending someone that card means that you want that person to attend your wedding. Am I wrong?

No you're right. Everyone you send an STD to needs an invite. Why would they save a date for an event to which they're not invited?

  • Anyone who gets an STD has to get an invitation.  If you are unsure about inviting them just don't send an STD to them.  You can invite them if they didn't get an STD, but you can't not invite them after sending one.
