Comcast makes me feel homicidal

ARRRRRRRGH.

So we got back from our wedding on August 18th.  Cable in the bedroom works, but cable in the living room doesn't.  Internet also doesn't work.  Called Comcast, they said they would send someone Saturday AM to fix it.  Great.

Saturday: Internet fixed.  Cable problem is beyond capabilities of the technician.  He has to send someone more qualified to fix it.  We call and make an appointment for the next Saturday.

Next Saturday, nobody shows up.  We call and find out that Comcast cancelled the appointment and didn't inform us.  They can come between 2 and 5 pm on Wednesday.

Tuesday night, H calls to confirm appointment on Wednesday.  Finds out it was cancelled again, by Comcast.  If he hadn't called, we wouldn't have known.  Schedule again for Saturday AM.

Saturday AM, nobody shows up again.  I'm furious, call Comcast and give them a piece of my mind.

They swear up and down that someone will be here tonight from 5 to 8 pm.  Nobody came.

I called Comcast and let them have it.  Customer Service rep plays all innocent.  I ask to talk with his supervisor.  He tells me his supervisor is busy but will call me back within the next hour.

Guess who hasn't called me back yet, an hour and a half later?  H is on hold with them now.  We're both furious.

The only positive thing is we're getting HBO free for 3 months and a $50 credit on our next bill for the time we didn't have full service.  But still.

/end rant.

  • I wouldn't settle for $50.  Go Amoro on them :)  hehe.

  • But really, that is unacceptable.  Call back, do not get off the phone until they give you a manager or someone higher up to talk to.  Oh, and write a letter.  Mention the BBB.

  • I HATE comcast with the fire of 1000 suns. We have had multiple times where they said they were coming to install/fix something and never showed but claimed otherwise. I am talking to the point where they called us liars and said we were not home. One time? ok. Multiple times? Something is horribly wrong with management and the flow of work within that company.
  • I would say $50 is not enough. Talk about opportunity cost.
  • Yeah keep pushing them. We have Comcast and were having trouble with the OnDemand videos and I biitched them out so bad we got HBO for a year. Seriously -  keep pushing.

    Idiots.

<div>I've threatened to report to the BBB and the FCC.  Working on BBB compliant online now. This is beyond ridiculous.</div>

  • Oh, and tell them three months of free HBO doesn't do any good if you can't watch it.

<div>I did.  They're going to start it from the day that the cable is fixed.  Which better damn well be tomorrow. </div>

  • Do you have twitter?  If you do, you should tweet your problem.  I did that when I had a crazy mess and a $700 charge for missing equipment (umm, hi, the Comcat technician took the equipment when I moved.  Not missing.).  A VP ended up emailing/calling and fixed things FAST.  I would recommend that route.

  • Just saw your FB status . . . thought this thread topic sounded familiar!

    Sorry they are sucking butt!
  • Tell them that you are going to cancel your service. I did that when my six month promotional deal was over. My dad used to do it all the time to get a better deal until he switched to AT&T Uverse hahaaaa.  I've also played the card that cable is a luxury and the economy is bad...tell them that is the first thing on your list that you are going to get rid of unless they can give you a more affordable price. Good luck!
  • The day after Comcast got rid of Cartoon Network on regular cable (which is what we had in our bedroom and I watch Adult Swim every night), I called Direct TV to come install a dish. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. EFF YOU, COMCAST.

  • Demand more. Tell them you're considering switching to Verizon because the service you've received is unacceptable. Get a supervisor on the phone NOW (that's what you say to the rep) -- you will NOT wait for them to call you. You are extremely dissatisfied with the lack of commitment from Comcast because you have had to arrange your schedule for the tech and your appointments kept getting canceled without notice. You need more than $50 removed from your bill to make up for lost hours at work.

This stuff works. FI and I have the direct line for the head honcho in our county office and anytime we call, things are handled immediately. I've had free Showtime and HBO for quite a while now, free DVR for a few months, etc AND we pay less than we did because FI demanded a deal for adding DVR -- so the bill is $50 less each month. He wasn't douchey about it, but he has a firm radio voice. It helps.

  • Comcast is dead to me

  • I hate Comcast, and I hate that they are the only cable provider for my area. They are also the only non-dial up internet provider.

When we moved we called 3 weeks in advanced and made an appointment to get everything hooked up. They'd be here between 2 and 5. 6 pm and no one shows. We call customer service and apparently they wrote in the notes to schedule the appointment but never did. They do this a second time. Dh calls them and says not to bother sending a tech. the next time, because we are going to look at other providers since they refused to do anything to make it better. We find out there is no other option and call back. Now the price is $80 higher. He hangs up on them. I call back and get another lady who puts it back to the original price $125 plus taxes) and gives us a free dvr for a year (since they have no area techs who can make Tivo work).

    Evil.
