Centerpieces

For those of you having a buffet style reception, how are you decorating the tables?  I've noticed that even with flowers and candles, the tables look a little empty without formal place settings.  I'm worried about it looking too empty.

Here is an example:

The flowers look beautiful, but the table looks like it is missing something.

Maybe smaller to medium size tables?

We hab 48" rounds and used 3 very large candles with flower petals around them. That plus the escort card and holder, plus the favor filled them up just enough. Here's a few pics where you can see them. We havet, so we haven't got any more pro pics yet, so we've had to scavenge on Facebook...

The cards and favors WERE scattered a bit more, they must have moved them in this pic, and you can't see the table size, but you get the idea

We had 6 people seated at this table...

I know a lot of people make menus for each place setting and then wrap them up all cute in a napkin with a cute little place setting card or something. But I guess with a buffet that might not work either. You could make cute little doily placemats or those chalkboard placemats?

Since we are having a slight mardi gras theme, we are having masks and beads as favors and they will be on the tables for everyone around the centerpieces. I haven't quite decided on my centerpieces, but my inspiration is in my siggy...
