Honoring a Deceased Loved One

FI was extremely close to his grandmother who passed away and I really want to do something to honor her as well as my grandfather. What did you do or planning to do to honor your deceased loved ones without turning a happy occasion into a memorial?

We planned to have pictures of those who passed on placed on a stand at the church with a memorial candle in front of them. We didn't end up doing it (people forgot to put them up.) Both of our grandparents and his aunt.

1.Bouquet- My lily bouquet will honor my grandmother. Her name was Lily. I wish I had some pearls or something from my great-grandma because I would pin those on the bouquet also.
    2. Leave a chair open in the front row and place a flower on it.
    3. I even thought of maybe naming tables after the deceased loved ones but thought that might be too heavy, for my family at least.
4.I went to a wedding recently and during the reading, someone read the names of the grandparents and mentioned how they are smiling down on them. Something to that affect.

Prncsz, this is exactly what I wanted to do. I though about the idea of placing a rose on the seat, but my church has pews and no one would be able to see it.

I carried a necklace that belonged to my brother with my bouquet and I wore a pin that belonged to my aunt on my dress.

We honored DH's deceased father with a memorial candle that he and his mom lt once she was escorted down the aisle. Also, there was a small paragraph in the program describing the meaning of the memorial candle and what it was for.

I'm going to have a small picture of my daughter on my bouquet.  It will also be wrapped in pearls since that would have been her birthstone.  FH will have a pearl boutanier too.

We designated her color as purple (her nursery and all her clothes were purple) so it's one of our wedding colors and we will also have purple unity candles during the ceremony.
