Need ideas for naming tables instead of using numbers....

Im trying to be creative and not just use numbers for the tables. We are having a beach wedding, so we were thinking beaches in the area or places in Jamaicia (our honeymoon spot).

Any ideas???

Thanks!!!

  • I can't help you with names, but will offer some advice.  Depending on how many tables you are having, you should also but a table number on the corner of the sign.   People won't appreciate wandering around wondering if Waikiki is near Miami Beach or not.  If you only have a few tables, it's not an issue, but if you have more tables confusion is more likely.
  • I agree with previous post.  This could get tricky if you are having a larger wedding or if there are a lot of tables.  Be careful with it but if it maybe of help you could like a map or a layout of the reception hall and display it near the escort cards, if you are having a board with the names you can set up a similar easel with the layout right next to it.
  • we are naming our tables after sports venues...FI is very excited about it.

  • We're not doing assigned tables anymore (hors d'oeuvres and cocktail reception), but when we were considering it, we're both big movie lovers, so we were going to name each table after a favorite movie, and on the back of the escort card, include a love quote from that movie!

  • We are using images of our favorite music albums.  Some will be our personal favorites, and then the rest will be albums that mean something to both of us (like concerts we've been to together, etc.).
  • I am thinking about using different mountain names for our tables because we got engaged at the top of the mountain behind our future home....so if you are doing a beach wedding you could do different beach names, different shell names, or something like that. I wouldn't worry too much about not having numbers on the tables. My friend had numbers on the tables but she also had a poster sized board by the place cards so it was like a little map of where the tables where...so that might be a good option too!
  • I have also seen just pictures or symbols used...for instance in your beach theme...you can use a picture of a sand dollar, a shell, a starfish, etc....small symbols on whatever escort cards and larger pictures of them on the table.  Usually the visual is easy to find.
  • We may use numbers... but random numbers that mean something to us... favorite number, birth-dates, old uniform numbers, dates of important times in our life, etc.
  • We saw an idea to use street names that are important to you or your immediate family - streets you grew up on, streets parents grew up on, etc.  I like the idea of having numbers with them also.
