Opinions on Bride's Shoes

I don't have my dress picked out yet, but I know I'm going with floor length and lace.

I am in no way at all wearing heels. I am 5' 8" and don't need them, and I have very weak ankles and physically can't wear anything with a heel. I don't want to wear flip flops because the toe thong is uncomfortable for mee and I don't want the "smack" nosie when it hits your heel while I'm walking. I'm not really a fan of ballarina flats. Too girly for me, but I haven't shut them out completely. My fiancee is having all of the guys and himself wear new rod lever sneakers (they play foot bag together) and I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids and myself keens (since they no longe make Simple sneakers). This is what I was looking at:

I talked to my mom about the idea and she totally freaked about me wearing sneakers. I feel that I want to be comfortable, and they wont show anyway unless I lift the dress up for photos. I think it's a cute idea, but I'm very indecisive about it.
What do all of you think? Anyone wear something besides heels for the wedding? Are there shoes that are comfortable that I haven't thought of yet?

I personally hate sneakers with formal dresses. Lace is so elegant and beautiful. Sneakers are clunky and not dressy at all. Have you thought about a flat sandal? Not flip flops, but a nice sandal has straps to hold them on your feet.

You never really know what you are going to get till you get to the bridal salon. A lot of women think they will get a certain style and end up with the exact opposite. That being said, wait till you've picked out your dress then revisit this topic. You'll be better able to get a vision of what will look best.

And no sneakers, find a lower heel or a sandal as PP's suggested.

If that's what you really want then go for it.

What do you normally wear when you go out wearing a dress? I would start there and find something similar. There are definitely flat, no heel, dressy sandals without a toe thong strap that you can wear.

I know you have found sandals that work. I just wanted to add that when my youngest sister married, she wore sneakers. She had a full gorgeous ball gown, cathedral train...she was beautiful. Only we knew she was in new white tennis shoes (with glittery lace laces!) Her bridesmaids didn't join her, but she is a bit of a jock. They were perfect. Daddy wasn't thrilled, but the rest of us rather enjoyed knowing! She is the only one standing up with me, and when I told her she could pick out her dress and shoes - Mom said WATCH IT! She'll grab runners! (For the record, she has not bought shoes yet, but she is practicing in a pair of my heels. 12 years later and she thinks she wants to wear heels now!)

Personally I say no to sneakers for the ceremony. But I am going to wear toms for the dancing. Im getting silver glitter toms to match my reception short dress. I want to be able to dance my butt off. Plus I don't want to ruin my wedding shoes with dancing and drinking. I completely splurged on the shoes. Louboutins is the highlight of my attire.

</div><div>OP, I think the sandals you chose look really comfy and they'll look great with any dress. You can always revisit them later if you end up with a different style of dress. Or, if you get the shoes now you can take them to your appointments. </div><div>

I think the sandals are a nice choice and definitely go better with a formal dress than sneakers. But either way, wear what you want and are going to be comfortable in - if you have a long dress no one is going to know either way! Just don't mention it to your mom =]

This is exactly what I thought! On a related note, I don't get the whole love affair some people seem to have with TOMS. The whole idea of giving a pair of shoes away to a needy child with a purchase is great, but I think the shoes are rather ugly!

Toms are comfortable. I thought about some for the reception, but these are my shoes and what I'm getting my dress hemmed to (4.5 inch heel)

So if I change into flats I'll be dragging my dress everywhere. I bought some pretty wedge flip flops instead.

That said, I'm a bit of a shoe whore, and here are some flat, comfortable, non thong options I found if you haven't decided on the red sandals (not sure of your budget so included them all) I'm sorry if none of them are your style, but there's a ton of options for comfortable wedding shoes.

I totally agreed with the shoe being really ugly but after i tried them on i was sold. I work as a hairstylist so I"m required to stand in one spot for a long period of time. After awhile flats just don't give enough support. As for me changing out of my louboutins, I'm an easy drunk that's sloppy. My dancefloor opens at 9 and will remain open till 1:oo. So tha's 4 hours of dancing i want to do. Plus I want to be able to drink and not worry about someone stepping on my feet while dancing or spilling drinks on my shoes. The dress i'm not worried about it. I have a reception dress to match the Toms.

I decided a couple of months ago to go barefoot...then after some great advice from the ladies on my board, i decided to go with flip flops..nobody will be seeing my shoes anyways so I have a nice white pair of flip flops with a flower on top
