NWR: New Orleans

I am going to New Orleans for the first time September 26-28 with a bestie who is travelling on business.  We would like to go to great restaurants for dinner on 9/26 and 9/27 and have a great breakfast on 9/28 before we leave. This is the first time either of us have been to NOLA, so any advice or recommendations on places to go and things to do would be really helpful. BTW, Bestie is pregnant so no bar hopping for us. :( Thanks in advance.

I was just in New Orleans this past weekend for my company's annual meeting! We stayed at the Crown Royal hotel on bourbon street which I would not recommend AT ALL, but we did have dinner at Oceana at bourbon and conti which was really good! I had the mussels rockefeller (yum!) and the red beans and rice (not spicy enough for m e). Their crab cakes were delish though. Some of my colleagues went to red fish (?) which was right across from our hotel and they raved about it. Also make sure you stop by Cafe Du Monde for a beignet :) Too bad you can't bar hop - we had a great time bar hopping on Sunday and I'm still recovering from the entire weekend. It was a much needed respite from wedding planning

I hesitated on going because I was nervous about spending the money so close to the wedding, but my bestie put the hard sell on me that she didn't want to go to strange city alone and preggers and her DH could not take off work to go.  My FI also agreed that I should go with her and said he would pay for part of the trip.  (squeeee!)

I'll check out Oceana and Red Fish.  We already have Cafe du Monde on our must visit list. Both of us love food and have SO who are both super picky eaters, so this should be fun for us.  Thanks for the intel. Keep the recommendations coming.

Mothers is pretty good. I'll have to ask DH since he is from there. Everytime we have gone since we have been together his aunt has turned her home into a restuarant so we don't really get to eat at the places there.

Thanks ladies!  So my bestie said she does want to try to go out to a club or bar on Tuesday night. Anyone have any suggestions in the French Quarter or Garden District?

Just walk on Bourbon, thats an experience in itself lol. I love Mothers, get banas fosters or the crepes at Brenans (they're pricey for meals but the banaas fosters are world famous and sooooo good!

If you wanna get away from the tourist areas check out Frenchman Street. . The Snug Harbor has great food and live music everynight. .As a New Orleanian I stay away from Bourbon. . But the Bourbon House Restaurant on Bourbon and Canal Street is very good. Ride the Streetcar up Historic St Charles Street while drinking New Orleans Original Daquiris
