Should I respond?

We got a note from FI's uncle yesterday.  We offered the option of RSVPing online or using a phone number, but he decided to write to us to offer his regrets and to welcome me into the family.  Should we write him a note back, or just wait and acknowledge it in the thank you?  (He did mention that he'd be sending a gift later.)  I'm just not sure of the etiquette on this one.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Re: Should I respond?

  • I would treat it as an RSVP, therefore you don't need to respond to his response.  Wait until you get a gift and send a TY note.  If you get the gift early, send it right away so he knows you received it.
