Re: inviting cousins- question from mother of bride

  • how many other children are there? If there is only 1-5, then just invite them. If there are heaps of children, then maybe don't. If my my kid wasn't invited, and other cousins kids were, then I would probably be offended.
I guess you also have to take into consideration age of the children, and if the parents are having to travel from out of town.

First, I'd close out this knot account and open one that doesn't have your e-mail address in it.

As for the problem, agreed with pp, 1-5 kids I wouldn't make waves over.  I've never even met my mom's cousins, let alone their kids.  How close are these people to the bride?  We did invite some of my cousins with kids and some without.  The ones we invited without kids did not attend nor acknowle the invitation or wedding.  So, be prepared there may be hurt feelings.

  • I think it also depends who is paying for the wedding. If the bride and groom are, do they want all of these cousins invited?

My parents are generously paying for my wedding. Because of this all of my mothers first cousins and all of their children will be invited. Am I extremely close with all of them? No. But it is important to my Mom (who is close to all of her cousins) that their children be invited to the wedding. We have the space in the hall for them and we do not have to compromise the guest list to invite them so it is fine by me.

If you have the space to invite them, I would not leave anyone out. Personally, if I found out that my cousins kids were invited to a wedding but mine were not I would probably be offended.
