Nevada-Las Vegas

Married on March 10th!!! Review Time!!!

Paying it forward for all the Vendor reviews I looked at to help me make my wedding decisions!! And let me tell you...Vegas was the absolute BEST place to get married!! We had so much fun and wouldn't have changed a thing! I will try to be short and sweet with each of the vendor reviews...

Hilton Elara (Formerly known as Planet Hollywood Tower Suites)

Very hard to find as the Hilton just bought this hotel from PH and they hadn't put up their signs yet, but let me tell you...best suite on the strip for the $. Can you say wall sized projection TV, full kitchen and bar, huge jacuzzi right next to the bed, 5 TVs, washer and dryer, very modern everything, amazing view of the strip...ALL for $189 a night! So amazing! We only stayed here one night before we moved to our wedding resort...but will definitely stay there next time we go to Vegas!!

Sapphires Strip Club
Don't go here...don't waste your money! We had gotten VIP packages for 18 people for our Bachelor/Bachelorette party and wish we would have picked a different strip club...drinks were outrageous and the girls were just so-so...

Coyote Ugly (New York New York)
We went here after Sapphires and had an absolute blast!!!! Danced on the bars and everything! SOOOOOO much fun!

JW Marriott Resort and Casino
Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow! Words cannot express how utterly amazed I am with this place! EVERYONE at the wedding was so impressed with this place. We got a complimentary suite with our wedding package which was beautiful and huge. Probably my most favorite part about having our wedding here was the personableness of the staff! Every person that saw me would say "Hi Ms. Lawrence! Are you excited about Saturday? Is there anything you need???" I mean come on! You couldn't get that ANYWHERE else in Vegas! I am soooo glad we picked this place!

Spiedini Ristorante (Meet and Greet Dinner)

This is located in the JW Marriott so we decided to host our meet and greet dinner for all guests. The food here was AMAZING!!! They even made us little menus with our pictures on them and any tagline that we wanted. So adorable!

Men's Wearhouse - Tuxedos
Easy in, Easy out...did all alterations on the spot...no complaints! Were very friendly!

DJ Tony - Pure Energy DJ
WOW! Tony was the best DJ ever! Let me tell you, I am VERY picky about music and had quite a long ban list and was very particular about the type of music we wanted played. Tony came through! He played only the music we liked and seriously had EVERYONE on the dance floor! He was so much fun and entertaining! I know a lot of brides overlook him, but he was very awesome and so reasonably priced!

Joey Allen - Photographer
I can't say enough about Joey...he was  so incredible!!! I can't wait to see the pics! I think pictures speak louder than words...so go to his site www.joeyallenphoto.com to see some of his work (which is what hooked me). We wanted mostly photo journalism style for our wedding and he totally came through. He was EVERYWHERE taking pictures...I feel like he didn't miss anything! He accommodated all of our special requests for pictures too! Please consider him if you need a photographer...you will not be dissapointed!

Freed's Bakery
Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Filling...absolutely yummy! The cake design was perfect also! Totally looked like the inspiration picture I sent. Great to work with and was very happy with the cake!

Julie Reed Events - Flowers

The flowers were amazing! From the altar, to the centerpieces, to the bouquets...I had soooo many compliments from the guests on the floral decorations. I didn't do a bouquet toss and instead of the complimetary bouquet she provides for that, she let me substitute for fresh flowers in my hair! My flower budget ending up being a little more than I hoped for by using her (she is a little on the higher end) but definitely worth it...the flowers were top notch!

Debi @ Fit for a Bride
Shipped my dress to Debi a week before a wedding and it was ready for me to pick up when I had asked. She also picked up my dress on a Sunday (she is usually not open that day) and cleaned it and shipped it back home for me! Debi was great and I highly recommend shipping your dress ahead (the airlines told me that I would have had to buy another seat for my dress or check it!)

Officiant

We brought our own officiant who is a friend of our family. It was super easy to get her authorized in Clark County to perform our ceremony. Let me know if you have any questions about trying to do this!

ZipLine on Fremont Street

After the wedding, we all headed to Fremont Street to do this...just know it was about an hour wait for the tickets and then another 45 minute wait to actually zip line! But it was fun...and we were drinking and having fun in line anyway!

P.S. Honeymoon Suggestion - Mammoth Mountain

If anyone is getting married in Vegas and hasn't decided on a honeymoon location...I would HIGHLY recommend skiing at Mammoth Mountain! We rented a car in Vegas and drove out to Mammoth Mountain (about a 5 hour drive) and the drive was absolutely GORGEOUS! Everyone in the city is soooo over the top nice, great restaurants, lots of things to do, great skiing, and the condos right on the mountain are amazing! We have been skiing during the day, having nice dinners, and cuddling up by the fire at night! We were so pleased with our honeymoon choice!!!

I hope this helps some future brides and feel free to contact me with any questions! I tried to not get into too much detail for each vendor (as I know from personal experience, sometimes you just want the bottom line when reading a review) but I would be happy to let you know a little more about my experiences if you have specific questions!

Happy planning...and enjoy it ladies...it goes by toooooooo quick!

  • Welcome back Mrs! Thanks for the reviews, can't wait to see pics!
  • Congratulations!!! SO happy everything went so great for you guys. Ca't wait to see some pictures!

I second do NOT go to Sapphire!! Husband and his friends ended up there at his bachelor party, best man spent close to $5,000. As soon as the guys walked in the door they knew it was bachelor party.  They instantly took them to the "VIP" room and started opening bottles of champagne by the time any of the guys knew what was going on they were told it was too late, since the champagne had been opened (that the guys didn't even ask for) that they had to pay up.  Me and my friends ended up meeting up with the guys there at the end of the night. I got a lap dance, it was nothing special and not worth the $60.

What airline did you fly? I'm just curious what airlines don't let you take the dress as a carry on item.

  • What men's wearhouse location did you use?  Did you order the suits ahead of time?
  • Congrats! So great everything went well - and the reviews are great - good to know re: sapphire's. I'm also curious about which airline re: the dress. i read that and panicked a bit as i intend to take it as carry on - we specifically picked seats at the back of the plane so that we could get on first and have lots of time to get the best storage area (if we have to do overhead - though hoping we'll have a nice stewardess who will hang it for me :))

No way!!! After being in a wedding dress from 11am until 9pm I was ready to get out of it!

I changed into jeans, tube top, and a cute VS hoodie that said Sexy Little Bride! I was super comfortable and so glad that I changed...

However, they did have lots of brides on Fremont Street out in their dresses and some even did zipline in their dresses (let me tell you I was NOT jealous!)

I used the location near the JW Marriott over on Charleston Blvd so we wouldn't have far to pick them up.

We went to our Men's Wearhouse in Houston and picked out all the tuxes, and we had people all over go to get fitted (Michigan, Idaho, and Texas!). All they had to do was go into any Men's Wearhouse, tell them our names, and they would measure them. Only had to put down a $20 deposit too!

I flew Continental...and it wasn't an issue of they wouldn't let me carry it on, it was too big to be a carry on. They have specific measurements and said they couldn't guarantee me a spot in the closet unless I was first class because it is reserved for them. I just didn't want to risk that it wouldn't fit in the overhead and they might make me check it (hell no!) or deal with the hassle of lugging it around. I needed to conserve my carry on items for other bags! It was only about $25 to ship it to Debi with insurance of $2000!

If you are worried, just give the airline a call and see what their policies are!
