We got our first....

RSVP with no name on it!!! And I didn't know to put numbers on the back just incase this happened. Now, hopefully, when it is time to call the no responses, they tell us that they are the ones that sent in their card but forgot to write their names next to the big fat M_____________________!!!!!!!

What did you guys do when/if this happened??
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Re: We got our first....

  • I told my mom to number them (read about it here, didn't think of it myself) so I'm no help.  I guess you'll just have to wait and call.

  • It's too late now, but we numbered all of them.  As it turned out, no one forgot to write their names in, so it wasn't necessary.   Does the cancellation stamp on the envelope provide any clue?

I did number mine, but I didn't get any with no names.

I did get several "Jane Jones and guest" (seriously written like that) with only one meal selection. So your date doesn't have a name and doesn't want to eat? Okay.

Also, our deadline was friday. We finally got back the RSVP for FI's immediate family yesterday, after he called them for their meal choices. We sent them 3 separate invites and got back 1 card for all 5 of them. They didn't check accepts or declines, just wrote meal choices and that FSIL's non-boyfriend needs something dairy free. Oh, and they were nice enough to include FI's grandma's funeral program in the envelope, WTF.

  • We throw huge christmas parties at my company and we started filling in those lines for the people we send invites to.  When you have 200 people attending and like 400 invites going out, it got really dicey.

  • Can you narrow it down by where the postage was canceled?
  • I've had a few so far.... I never read anything about the numbers until after the fact, too, and believe me I read a lot of wedding stuff.

What I am doing is basically narrowing it down.  Wait until all RSVPs are in, and at that point you'll have a better idea of who it might be.  I got an RSVP for one from my hometown, and looking through my list I already know it's one of three people.  I'll wait and see who of those three send it in and then I'll know!

Some I've been lucky to know just by the postmark that it's from an area that only one person is from, but like I also got one for a party of three the other day - well there's only two parties of three in our list so the postmark kinda did that one for me.
  • and this is why I am going with personalized response cards.

OP- totally not your fault. People are stupid sometimes, but after reading all the info and horror stories on here, I decided it was a splurge well worth the money to spare all the frustration.
  • I went w/personalized RSVPs. Chances are, you'll have to call people you didn't hear back from anyway, so I would just set it aside and wait until your RSVP deadline. Then start making calls.

  • after everything I have heard here (it was something I never heard of before) there were too many horror stories. Defiantly money well spent in my book! I would recommend it to anyone.
  • We numbered ours and ended up having no one forget to fill in the space (although I completely expected it). People not returning them at all... that's a different story. Anywho, I'd try to narrow it down once all of them have come back.

  • I filled in the names, so I didn't have that issue, but I got one back where the person didn't check any of the boxes.... um, yeah.
