Centerpiece Alternatives

In an effort to cut costs, I was trying to think of alternatives to solely flower centerpieces. Initially I thought of lanterns with candles inside surrounded by 2 mint julep cups with 1 hydrangea in each. But, lanterns & mint julep cups, from my research, are far more expensive than flowers! So, I'm back to square one.

Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives to big flower arrangements or a way to cut down the cost on a flower centerpiece? We'll have about 25 tables.

Re: Centerpiece Alternatives

  • For my daughters wedding. I bought wine glasses from the dollar tree, bought colored LED candles (blue)  to sit in them and bought little lamp shades you can find on ebay. We are then planning to have sparkling gems scattered around the glass sitting in the center of each table.Less than $10 a table.
  • I saw these beautiful centerpieces.  They were very short, but wide square vases with water and some floating orchids and candles.  One stem of orchids flowers seem to be less than $1 per flower around here.  Maybe 5 orchids and some floating candles (Ikea has good prices).  I'm not sure where you could get the vases at good prices.

  • Pinterest has a ton of ideas for centerpieces. I recommend checking it out. Good luck! I am sure whatever you choose will be delightful.

  • I am painting some wine bottles and tying some ribbon around the neck to dress them up. I purchased some different decorative branches from Hobby Lobby to put in the bottles. I also purchased some really inexpensive wine glasses that I will put candles in and will go around the bottle. It's very simple, but looks great and is costing us less than 10 per table!! There are lots of alternatives to the traditional floral centerpieces it just depends on what you like. I agree with the pinterest suggestion!! You will find tons of inspiration!

Also look at trash to treasure on the nest site community list People are often selling their wedding decor. I had an outdoor lunch reception and had floating flowers in cheap vases with glass pebbles in the bottom.

You can get a lot of bang for your buck with centerpieces of massed baby's breath in ivy bowl vases from the dollar store.
  • These are great ideas. Thanks!!!
