MOH too young?

By the time we get married my fiance and I will have been dating for almost 10 years (high school sweethearts).  Over that time, I have grown very close to his younger sister.  Up until recently, I thought I knew which friend to ask as my MOH but that's a long story.  I would really like to as my fiance's sister to be my MOH but she will only be 17 when we get married in a year and a half.  Is this too young and would this role be putting too much pressure on her? Thanks!

    I think 17 is fine.  Just don't expect her to be really involved with the wedding and planning, because she's only in high school and is probably quite wrapped up in her own life.  (really, you shouldn't expect any of your BMs to help you with planning)  All she is required to do is show up in the right dress on the right day, I don't think that will be too much pressure for her to handle.

    Out of curiosity, why can't your friend be your MOH?

    ETA:  FWIW, my sister is my MOH and she'll be 18 at the wedding.

    No, I wouldn't expect her to be totally involved.  My fiance and I are doing most of the planning on our own but his sister is already very involved and wants to help with everything :)

    And to make a long story short about my friend, we haven't had the same relationship since college.  She has always been way too competitve with me and it only got worse when she got engaged 3 months before me. When I got engaged the very first thing she said was "When is the wedding, it wont be before ___ will it?"  (____ is the day she is getting married).  She isn't exactly happy about my engagement and continually cuts it down.  She even criticized the way my fiance proposed to his face.  The only issue is that I am her MOH and I don't know how to confront that sticky subject because like I said I am not planning on having her as mine, which I'm sure will be a surprise to her.

    Ugh, I hate drama.

    I don't think 17 is too young at all. She's perfectly capable of having that honor.

    I had two MOH's (my younger sisters age 18 and 20).  They put together a shower with my bridesmaids and my youngest sister helped me with all the programs! I don't see why not <:

    I think 17 is fine but your wedding is over a year away . Dont ask until 6-9 months before the wedding.
