White shoes for BMs?

My colors are light and dark pink.  I am wearing pink shoes and originally I was thinking of having the girls wear pink shoes as well.  Then I started thinking that white shoes might look nice to offset and they are more likely to wear them again (not everyone is as crazy about pink as I am!)  Has anyone ever heard of this being done before or is the bride supposed to be the only one wearing any kind of white?

  • All my BMs are wearing white shoes. Have never heard anything about it being strange.

I honestly can say that I do not own one pair of white shoes.  If I wore them in a wedding, they would go in the trash immediately thereafter.   Maybe you should consider nude or silver shoes?   And honestly, no one cares what color the BMs shoes are.  You could let them choose any nude or silver shoes.

Also, just in case you didn't know, if you are requiring a specific shoe, you should be paying for it.

<div>I aways find this interesting (whether or not people have white shoes) I have to say. I have at least two pairs of white shoes (and they're the color I wore to prom, high school graduation and college grad) so I figured I'd just let my BMs pick out any white shoe to wear. Two had white shoes, one was more than happy to buy a pair, and the other two complained like no one's business about how I picked such a difficult color! I was legitimately surprised they found it hard to find white shoes they liked... Of course, by this point, the third BM already had bought her shoes, so we're sticking with them.</div>

Two already have white shoes, one bought hers and has already worn them before, the other two are able to get whatever kind they want (if they want to get $3 white sandles from a flee market, whatever) so it's up to their own budget. I'm not requiring a certain shoe, so they're fine buying them.

OP, I don't think it's a problem for you to ask your bridesmaids to wear white shoes if that's what you really want, but you should also offer to pay for them like PP said.

I know I haven't had a reason or desire to wear white dress shoes since I got them to match my First Communtion dress when I was seven years old...
