Hey ladies! thanks for all the input on the church situation from a few days ago.
I talked to FI and we agreed that his point about us marrying in a church that we are actually going to attend is important. He acknowledged my point about the serious inconvenience of a gap for our particular set of guests (not that a gap is always bad).
So together we decided that since we have only been attending our current parish for a few weeks, we were going to give the other church the same treatment (2-3 masses to check it out). Then we're going to make a decision and book it officially.
In the meantime, we have our date (9.8.12) penciled in at both places and have meetings scheduled with both churches to finalize the wedding paperwork in a few weeks.
Yay for teamwork!
