Re: which cake would work better with my venue

  • I'm not sure I have ever heard of tailoring the cake to the venue, but I like all the cakes except the last one. It looks way too busy and difficult to cut.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I'm with Addie.   I would pick the one that goes with your other decor and personal taste.  I wouldn't worry about matching the venue.

I also agree with Addie, the last one looks like a nightmare to cut and serve. Your waitstaff will hate you.
  • Ditto PP. I've never heard of a cake matching a venue. Pick whichever cake you want.

  • The one that tastes the best.
  • I think 1, 5, and 6 all give the same feel of the venue picture you posted. I would match it more to the overall feel of the wedding though - although if that goes along with the venue then I get where you are coming from!
  • Honestly, no one will remember what your cake looks like, but everyone will remember what it tastes like!  Having said that, I like how 1, 3, and 6 look.  They're all pretty close in design though, just go with what you love.

  • I like the first one. Very classy and traditional. As long as it's not too hot or humid in your venue, and you don't have to worry about frosting choices, go with what you think will look best.
  • If you want the cake to fit in with your venue, I like the first cake best. It's traditional and elegant. It looks very much like my daughter's wedding cake and her venue was similar in style to yours. The look was accomplished with buttercream frosting, which I prefer over fondant.

  • I personally think #2 is interesting, but it depends on the style/ theme of your wedding.

  • i dont care what the cake looks like-how it tastes is what matters. that being said:
assuming they're all delicious keep in mind that you don't have to match the cake to your venue, but if you had to do that I wouldn't use any of the ones in your post.  I like the photo of your reception space. The square and arched shapes really stand out. I'd probably have a cake designed to alternate arches and squares-either in decoration or the cake shape itself. i'd also skip the flowery decoration and go more with decoration of a more art deco style that way the style and architecture of the space would be reflected on the cake.
