DJ

How much should you expect to pay for a wedding DJ?

Re: DJ

  • Totally depends on what you are looking to have.  You could get just 1 dj for under 1K. If you want lighting.2 dj's ect it could be more. I paid $1500 for 1 DJ, gobo, dancefloor lighting.
  • It truly depends on what you want.
You can pay $5000 if you want the tvs and lighting and other crops.
we paid around $1500 also for 1 MC, 1 DJ, inteligence lighting and gobo for 6 hours.

  • I found a dj I liked at a previous wedding and was quoted $1095. That does not include lighting (afternoon reception) or tvs, but I think he has a second person with him. (Wouldn't matter to me if he did or didn't)

Also, handouts would be $1 a person if we decided to go with that sort of thing. Gobo was additional as well, but I don't remember the price (approximately $200 more, I think?)

  • We were married at the Tides on Sep 8 and used DJ Mystical Michael. He did the whole thing for a fraction of what the Tides House DJ wanted to charge us and in the end the Tides was super cool about letting us use whatever vendors we wanted. And he was so easy to work with, he did an amazing job as both DJ and MC. If you are in NJ I totally recommend him.
  • I agree about using the venues house DJ. They pay a big fee to get that title so they pass the cost down to you. Just because they are the house DJ does not mean you are getting quality.
  • I met with a rep from Seasons Catering and they pushed their house vendors very hard...they even had a list of banned vendors! What's up with that anyway?! I actually asked and I was given a run-around answer. I'm guessing it's very political
