Loose Curls with Thick/Heavy Hair

I would LOVE to have loose curls on my wedding day (or really any other day).  My problem is that my hair is VERY thick and heavy.  Does anyone know how I can achieve this look without my hair being crunchy?

  • Thanks so much!  I do have a somewhat stupid question though...
How do you do pin curls/rag curls?  The most I ever do to my hair is blow it dry and use a straightener.  : )

lol, well some of the curl does still fall out, but that's ok because otherwise I'd look like an overgrown Shirley Temple and that would just be ridiculous.  :)

  • what I would do is set your hair with rollars and setting lotion, slightly tighter then you want the finished result so it lasts, rollar sets last alot longer then curling irons, because the hair goes from wet to dry and then warm to cool. this locks in the shape so that your thicker heavier hair can retain a soft curl
  • your best bet is having someone do you hair...
both myself anf my cousin have thick hair and it curled easily and stayed all night and it wasnt even crunchy.

i honesty washed out my hair day of... let it all dry out... then they just started combing through ym hair and curling it with a curling iron and they came out great :)
