Wedding on a Holiday

My fiance and I are getting married on New Years Day 2011. Do you think we should send out Save the Dates a little earlier since it is on a holiday?

    I would send then out 6-8 months out.  But that is a pretty standard timeframe.

    Becareful with STD.  Once you sent it out you have to invite them, but you can still invite someone to a wedding even if they did not get a STD.

     We did not send them out to everyone we ended up inviting (mostly only family and some close friends, those we were on the fence about didn't get one).  By not sending out the STD to everyone it allowed  us to have some wiggle room in case relationships changed during the year. By the time the invites went out, we did have relationship changes and I'm glad I was not locked in to some people and I was able to invite others who we were now closer to.

     We have way to many people on these boards who sent out STD to everyone and then closer to the wedding either they do not like the people anymore or the budget was reduced and they now can not afford everyone they thought a year out they could.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    No more than 12 months ahead of time.  And, ditto Lynda - you need to be sure that everyone that gets an STD will still warrant an invitation, because once you send an STD, you have to send an invite.
