New venue location

I took a tour of a possible venue and called a few days later to put down a deposit of the day I wanted to reserve. 3 days later, someone calls me and tells me that someone has already reserved that day, and she didnt bother to return my calls or an email that I had sent before.
The woman apoligizes for the lack of communication, then says she will try to ask the "other client" to change her day with a side note that the price has also gone up almost $500 since a few days before and forgot to mention it.

Does this sound fishy to anyone else, or is this the way of the world with wedding planning?
Needless to say, I need another venue for my wedding? does anyone know of someplace with a ceremony and reception site outdoors, under 2000?

Check out this earlier posting http://forums.theknot.com/default.aspx?path=http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_texas-san-antonio

I used Gardens at West Green and highly recommend it. It's all outdoors..can do ceremony and reception there. You can use whoever for catering and can bring your own alcohol. Let me know if you have any questions elizabeth2116@yahoo.com Also, I paid under $1500 for 6 hours...and you can start early in the day setting up. And as you may see, the owner is a bit bad in communicating..but I think it's because she also is a wedding photographer...it all worked out fine in the end for me. And FYI, I don't think the voicemail actually works..so if you leave a message, you probably won't get a call back cause they never seemed to get my voicemails. Good luck!

Try The Antique Rose Emporium off of Evans Road. $1200 for 12 hours for ceremony outside and reception inside.
