Vintage Picnic theme- Need ideas?

Hello Knotties!

I am helping plan my best friends Bridal shower and she has chose to have a vintage picnic theme shower. I am charge of doing the cake and i'm needing some help with ideas. I will be having it make at a local Deli/Bakery, so it can't be anything too fancy, but i want something neat. Any ideas?? TIA!

Also, just wanted to say congratulations to all you Brides to Be! The Knot.com was a godsend to me last year when i was planning my wedding

Ooh, the basket weave idea is great! It accomplishes the vintage feel without hitting you in the face with it.

The basketweave is very cute. Two things that scream vintage and picnic to me are strawberry shortcake (clicky) and victorian sponge cake (another clicky). I think they are both chic, easy, and very vintage. That's a really fun theme idea.
