Things that make me glad I am "old enough"

http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_etiquette_wedding-colors-dilemma

really?

a "dilemma"?

they are colors and decorations.  Unless you tell me you are dying the BMs' hair to match - does anyone REALLY care?

Eh - this makes me sound like a bitchy old broad.  but you know what?  I am.

Re: Things that make me glad I am "old enough"

  • I don't see the sense in it (having colors), really.  The colors seem to drive a ridiculous amount of spending on unnecessary other stuff though, like linens for instance.  I won't get into the rest of it.

You are not sounding like a bitchy old broad.  You sound like someone who is focused on the important stuff ... not grinding over Miami Dolphins vs. Denver Broncos colors.  Ugh!

[QUOTE]In Response to Things that make me glad I am "old enough" : Did you post in the thread to tell her how much you don't care?

Nah - too many others already had jumped in to tell her how awesome her colors are and don't worry about her mother.

Funny thing?  My colors are orange and blue too.   But I'll fight anyone that says they are anything but Bears colors!

  • Well, don't tell anyone, but I'm not actually sure I had colors.  I'm sure someone will be along soon to revoke my marriage certificate on that basis.  Wink

  • @LucyHC:  We had a similar issue.  We had a maid of honor and a dude of honor.  The MOH wore a burgundy dress she originally got for a different wedding, so we made our signs for the kippot, clips, and programs on a burgundy background to coordinate.  However, at our at-home reception three days later, the MOH was not present, so it seemed awfully silly to build the reception around the color of her dress.
  • Our "colors" were driven by the fabulous invitations I got on the sale table at Michael's nearly 2 years ago for $5 a box with 50 invites and RSVP's. Lovely cream and black toile, and I built on it from that. I honestly didn't care, and still don't. But it's allowed me to tell my BM they can find any lovely black dress they want, and to use my home printer with black ink to print everything.
