  • You might want to post this on your local board so you get a more accurate response. It really varies from store to store.

From what I've heard, the alterations department at my local Davids is a hot mess. So we're taking my dress to a seamstress we've known for years. If you know of another reputable seamstress, I'd take it there just to be safe.

  • I would take it elsewhere. They are notoriously expensive, and I think that because of contractual obligations, they can't add anything to some of their dresses--Vera Wang White dresses, for example, can only be altered for fit, because Vera doesn't want DB fooling with her designs.

I'd ask around on your local board for recommendations on a seamstress.
  • I have heard that it depends on the store.

But like the others said, I would take it to an independent seamstress.
  • Independent! I'm going back tomorrow for the 3rd time to see if they fixed my dress from the first time they messed it up. I WISH I had known about their alteration dept before I let them have it. I may end up having to order a new dress.

  • again, take it elsewhere. you do not have to have them do the alterations.
