    testing new siggy, anticipating disaster....

I'm trying to add a diner from the town I grew up in, one of the first ones I can remember.

    Second attempt....

Here is my venue. It is a courthouse from the 1860s that is now run by the county park service. We will be getting married on the front steps (praying for a sunny day!) and will have the reception upstairs. It has an old timey jail in it and we will have it open for tours after the ceremony.

I decided to put my reception venue up there too.  It was a lovely Inn built in 1904, had a big roaring stone fireplace, and lots of dance space.  It was perfect.  All of our guests stayed at the Inn and were able to just go upstairs and sleep after the reception, or relax on the porch.

  • Oh, those are great you guys...but I have to say the name "Loose Mansion" cracks me up for some reason....Like it has bad morals or something Laughing

If my diner thing doesn't work out I will try for a local building like those, and have also toyed with the idea of an old New Hampshire inn. It reminds me very much of the Somewhere In Time inn, and since we both love that movie I think it could work for us....

Your diner is the cutest though.  I wonder--could you and hubby have some photos snapped there?  Like the two of you in a booth sharing a milkshake? Or could you do some trash the dress photos there or engagement photos?

Everyone laughs at it!  It's named after it's previous owner Jacob Loose!  We have a Loose Park too!!  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
  • I hope this works. Here is the venue I am using for both my ceremony and reception. It's an old theatre in downtown St. Louis called The Roberts Orpheum.

  • Ha! The old theater in my town is also on my backup list--that Orpheum is great. I really like St. Louis. When I was there to do a workshop a couple of years back I loved the old neighborhood our host showed us, and that public garden...

But I haven't lost hope on the diner--I just am not even approaching them until the immigration stuff we have to get through is further along. At this point I couldn't even ask for a specific month, nevermind a date.

  • Ooh I gotta share my venue!  It's a completely restored Company Store from an old coal mining town.  So unique!
