Would you wear clothes that aren't "clothes"?

I realise the subject line doesn't make much sense.

Today I'm wearing a dress that I bought the other day, but it's not really a dress. Technically, it's a bathing suit cover up, but it looks just like a sun dress, so I figured what the hell.

I'm not the only one that does this, right?

I have a brown henley pajama top that gets worn in public.

I'm pretty sure no one knows.

I so thought you were going to say you bought pajama jeans.
I have a similar "sun dress" that I wear. I also have a couple of pairs of shorts that are pajama shorts, but I'll wear them out if I have a quick errand or something like that.

Nope, I would totally do that.

As a matter of fact, there was this tank top dress looking thing in the pj section of target the other day and I thought to myself, "That would make an awesome sundress!"

    Ok then.

One of the ladies at work complimented my dress and when I told her it was a bathing suit cover up, she totally side-eyed me.

I have worn a thermal shirt that's a pajama top under a North Face Zip up and on it's own. It looks like a regular shirt.

But - sue me. I'm also the one who wore pajamas to Target in my small town years ago (with a bra and sweatshirt on) because I had a 103 degree fever and was barely lucid. No drive-through. I taught, so I wasn't running into anyone. My pajama pants were heavy cloud flannel. As bad as I felt, I truly, honestly couldn't have cared less. It was all I could do to get up and down the stairs.

I've totally had days like that.  I had a massive kidney infection (read morphine pills every 8 hours and Vicodin in between to help with the pain) and I went to walmart in pj pants and my dad's jersey.  Felt like ass, but I ran out of tea.

I have seen those cover ups and always think that they would make cute dresses. But then I always think about the person who will see me and think "Isn't that a cover up?"

    Good for you!

Yep.  I have a few chemises from Anthro that are just as thick as sundresses.  TBH, I can't believe people use them as nightgowns.

Your post now has me feeling a little paranoid.

Seriously though, if it were hanging in a different part of the store it would be a dress, it just happened to be hanging with the bathing suits (this is what I keep telling myself)

In high school, a friend of mine wore a slip (yeah, an undergarment) and called it a "skirt."

I don't really care what people wear, but TBH she looked like a damn street walker.  As long as you look covered and fine then, though, I don't really see a problem with it.

I'm sorry. I am sure more people feel the way you do about it than the way I do. I really tend to over think things.

I've done it before. One of my favorite tank tops is from the "intimates" section of Anthro. I always get compliments on it.

Oh and to answer the question- yes. I think I have a few tops that are supposed to be night shirts, but I wear them during the day.

I would totally wear a cover up as a dress! I've worn my bathing suit top as a shirt before. It's a really long tankini top with no straps. So I wore it with shorts when I went to the bank. I was going swimming later anyway.

I came in all ready to talk about the dress I made out of washcloths to wear to an "anything but clothes" party in college.  But umm, yeah, nevermind.

    I'd wear a cover-up as a dress.  I probably wouldn't say "oh-it's a cover-up" if someone said something though.

I had to get my medication, my teacher friend was in school, and I was on my own. I'd already been in bed until it was ready. That high fever lasted for 2 days. Some type of non-flu, non-strep throat infection. I was out of school for 3 days then the weekend. Thank God the Target was literally through the neighborhood and across the road.

If it covers what it is supposed to cover AND it's comfy... I'll wear it. Heck yes!
