You know what I'm craving?

A really excellent hot chocolate.

I could make my own but I want the whole shebang, including not making or having it at home.

Where do you go for excellent hot chocolate?

Totally lame, but I usually go to Starbucks. I love their hot chocolate.

Last week, I decided to try to save some money and make my own hot chocolate using Swiss Miss. It sucked.

It only takes a few more seconds to make it with real dutch cocoa, real milk and sugar. You could try that (it's usually on the back of the cocoa container)

I add extra vanilla to mine, but I'm being a PITA right now.

Maybe I'll try that. Do you make it on the stove or microwave?

I also used almond milk to make it, which I thought would be good, but it was not.

When I DIY, I use the Archer Farms milk chocolate cocoa mix from Target.  Once I "accidentally" made it with whole milk instead of skim and it was teh ossum.

I'm such a dork, but I miss Starbucks' Chantico.  That was like crack for me.  So that would be my recommendation, if you could go back to 2005.  Barring that, their current hot chocolate isn't bad.

It hasn't been cold enough here to really make me want hot chocolate, but I'm hoping to make good use of the Insta-hot on my kitchen sink this winter and enjoy it frequently.

On the stove is best, just heat the milk slowly so you don't scald it.

At home we have the Land O Lakes Hot Cocoa Mix and it is yum. I'm dying to try the salted careamel hot chocolate at Starbucks. I hear it's delish and I love salted caramel anything.

I'm lame. I just make Swiss Miss with water. Though I do like to add flavored instant coffee - hazlenut is the best, but vanilla's good, too. Those little tubes are the perfect size.

I have made my own cocoa with the milk and the stirring and all, but jeez, I'm lazy, and I don't want to waste 20 minutes on cocoa. I just want it in mah belleh.
