Hi everyone!

Rory and I need your help! I have entered us into a competition and we need your votes to win!!

    Um, this is a sure way for people to vote for other people than you and your FI. These kind of things are not looked upon favorably around here - just an FYI

    Oooh yeah, that's a sure fire way to get people to vote for anyone BUT you.  Soliciting votes is frowned upon on here.  Try looking on FAQs and it'll break it all down for you.

    Bad move.  Also, now anyone here who went/goes to the link know your full first middle, and last name.  That is really not safe for an internet forum.  I recommend deleting this as soon as possible.

    WOW!! She was asking for some innocent help... I didn't notice anything in the FAQ's and she probably didn't either... or I assume so at least.

    Don't worry Sarahting - you have my vote... and I have asked a few of my friends to do so for you too! I know bride's need all the help and support they can get!! My sister is getting married next year too and I know that it can be a very expensive endeavor so I really hope you win one of those awesome prizes to help you with your magical day!!!

    Bells, forgive me for asking such an obvious question, but why should anyone else pay for someone's wedding?  In essence, a wedding is a party and if you can't afford to have a huge bash, then why should someone else pick up the tab?

    I can't afford to buy a new car, shall I start a fund-raising event for myself?

    Joy, are you implying that my "Get Meg A New Jag Carnival" is a bad idea? I really don't want to lose my deposit on that cotton candy machine.

    Not everyone is able to afford the wedding of their dreams, but I believe everyone deserves one... 

    If someone is giving away prizes that would enable someone to have that dream made possible then Im in support of it! 

    When they give away cars in competitions and if you need one are you telling me you wouldn't enter? I'm not sure I follow your logic?

    Sure - I'd enter a contest to win a car.  But I wouldn't solicit for people to vote for me because I would be relying on someone else to win something for me.  That is ridiculous.  Plenty of people have paid for their own wedding without begging for help from strangers.  They picked a budget they could afford and stuck with it.

    ok, I'm sorry for even coming to this site! Gees, i'm not asking people to pay for my wedding?? I entered a competition where i could win great prizes to help me because maybe i cannot afford the luxury and so that i can have the wedding that i have always dreamed of and all i asked for was some help in getting votes. NOT donations of money...I am sorry that you cannot afford a new car, you should try enter a competition as well, maybe you could get one that way? I would'nt vote for you though...

    Sorry to have added fuel to this fire Sarahting.... I imagine this was not what you had in mind when posting... I have applied to de-register from this site... so much for the "support" of fellow brides! WOW! Is all I can say... People are just not like this where I come from... 

    Regardless, I wish you all success in your weddings and marriages...

    If you're old enough to get married, there are 2 other things you're old enough to do:

    1) Read a Terms of Service Agreement and see that soliciting votes violates is a big no-no.

    and

    2) Understand that life isn't going to go 100% of your way all the time. So if you can't afford your "dream wedding", you can either save up until you can afford it yourself, or learn to prioritize and make compromises to have a wedding that you love on a budget you can afford.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with entering a contest and hoping for a nice surprise to make things easier ... but there is a lot wrong with banking on winning said contest because you can't afford to pay for something without it.

    I'm also on board with that party, Joy.  Helping a friend AND getting to play in a bounce castle?  Totally win-win.

    OP, you should be aware that people have been disqualified from similar contests for soliciting for votes on message boards, because it's considered cheating.  Even if you didn't read the TOS when you signed up, there's a sticky post at the top of this forum that informs you that solicitation of any kind will not be tolerated.  Reading the FAQ before making your own post is pretty much Internet 101.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Seriously, it has been said before, and if anyone but yourself and fiance pay for your dream wedding, everyone else's money is going to have a "Catch22" associated with it... If you are up for getting into fights or taking into consideration other people's decisions of what you should do with their money, go for it.... else save yourself of the frustration... especially from a site that you thnk you might be getting free money from, because in the end, it's not free!!

    Haha...this site is seriously so out of control.  Don't say anything wrong or make a mistake...you will get attacked and have your words completely picked apart to mean different things!  lol...they should put that in the Terms of Conditions!
