Arrrghhh winter skin!

This happens every time the weather changes but it's always worse for me in the winter. My skin starts falling off and I break out like crazy. I was using this generic face lotion that wasn't doing anything and it's gotten so bad that I've been using aloe on my face to sooth the burning. I'm pretty miserable and not looking forward to holiday pictures.

Does anyone recomendations for a facial moisturizer that they use and love?

My skin dries out pretty bad in the winter so I thinking of buying Hope in a Jar  link--> http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P4633&categoryId=C21085&shouldPaginate=true

But anyways. What is your skin type?

It's expensive, but it's totally worth it.  I have combo skin, so some of it's really really dry, but if I use the wrong kind of moisturizer, I break out.  This is the only thing I've found that takes care of the dry skin but doesn't make me break out.

EDIT: Also, you only need a tiny bit at a time.  I got the bottle that size and I've had it just about a year and I'm just now running out.

Button, we must have the same skin! The Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion worked for me.

My skin is naturally a mess, sensitive, dry in some spots and oily in others. I really need to take better care of it.

I use tree tree oil soap and the olay moisturizer. I think the soap helps more then anything else at least for the breaking out part. That sucks Button, good luck

I was having massive issues with my skin too. I ended up going to an aestitician, after a facial she helped me pick out the best wash, mask, and lotion. So far my skin is on the mend. Good luck!

I've been following Paula Begoun's advice for a long time. I highly recommend her book. I rarely break out any more (like maybe 2 times a year?) and frequently get complimented on my skin. I use mostly drugstore products and makeup, but I do have some of the products she makes (her extra strength blemish fighting solution, the antioxidant concentrate, and the daily mattifying moisturizer with SPF 15) and I LOVE them all.

I use what Pink said--- Clinique's dramatically different lotion. It's awesome, and not too heavy or greasy!

It also comes in a gel, but my skin soaks that up too fast. The lotion is better for super-dry areas.

I have been using their 3-step trial set (cleanser, toner, lotion) and my skin looks and feels awesome.

Also-- don't wash your face more than once a day! Splash with water in the morning, and do your cleanser only at night to remove makeup and impurities. Washing too much will dry it out.

AND.... a tip a makeup artist/esthetician told me:

"For your dry skin I suggest exfoiliating with a little warm milk and add brown sugar circle motions with circles going up an back towards ears remove with milk not water as water with make a sticky hard to remove mess. After exfoliating it should help relieve the dryness by removing dry skin cells.. then apply a small amount of olive oil to continue moistorizing the skin."

Make sure your shower water isn't too hot!

I don't wash my face with any soap or cleanser. Whenever I do my face gets SUPER dry. I use a little water and eye makeup remover.

I use the Clean & Clear moisturizer. i like it!

I seriously doubt you'll regret it, but come back and tell me how you like it!

    Totally reasonable prices, too, right?

Personally, I only have to use the benzoyl peroxide a few times a week to keep my skin clear. Might help you cut down on any initial irritation to use it every couple of days and increase only if you need to.

I'll definitely let you know! I really like her philosophy and I'm looking forward to getting rid off blackheads.  The prices are awesome - she even has a deal going on for the complete set.
