"10-hour votives" my butt!

So I did a test-run of the "ten hour votives" and got, at best, 4 1/2 hours out of them.  Where can I find votives that will last at least 6 hours?

Re: "10-hour votives" my butt!

  • Did you trim the wicks before?  The smaller flame makes them burn slower.  If you google how to make candles last longer you can find some other tips like putting them in the freezer for a while before you use them.
In my experience, they never last as long as they say.  You could try a larger candle if it will still work with your centerpiece or whatever candle holders you are using.
You could have someone replace candles after dinner and once people are up dancing and talking, but that may be kind of tacky.

  • I haven't had need for them in a while, but I bought some nice candles from the dollar tree that burn for what seems like forever.  Clear cylindrical vase, about 10" tall I guess, white wax.  I used to buy them a lot for my me-time.  Turn on the music, run a bubble bath, light the candles and place them around the tub, then turn out the lights.  Was very relaxing.  These candles usually lasted me 20 or so baths, so I'd assume they'd last your 6 hours or better.

That aside, there is a brand of candles called "Party Light."  At least, I think that's the name.  They are sold a lot like Mary Kay is: you have to find a rep, and maybe there's a website.  A bit pricier, but the candles seem to last a long time and they smell nice.

    Good luck!
  • To get them to last longer you need to put them in a tigheter-fitting holder!! Usually that will help!!
  • Candles4Less and some other places sell ones that consistently last only3.5 to 4.5 hours, a PITA.
