Re: Huh.

  • We used Hotwire last year for vacation and had a great experience with it.

I second the vote for Vegas. Tell H it doesn't take as long as he thinks it will to get there.
  • i know how long it takes to get there, i've been a couple times. he's right, even though i hate it.

and yeah, i'm worried about the weather. but we're not committed to those dates. we might wait until june

  • Meh, I wouldn't worry that much about Chicago in May.  It should be aight.
  • It doesn't matter what is RIGHT, it's what he THINKS :-P

I know we've moved on to new topics, but that's where we stayed Birdie. I liked it a lot, BUT it's way better in the off-season. I guess high season started the day we were leaving and I could not wait to get the hell out of there.
  • Thanks! :) FI tells me we're going to be getting there right at the end of the rainy season. But I think we'll be there right before all the people come.
  • What about NOLA?

  • Might I suggest some light reading before you make up your mind?

  • That should be perfect timing Birdie. And I can almost guarantee you monkey sightings. Monkeys! Everywhere! We did the excursions into Nicaragua and into the Manuel Antonio forest. If I had my way, we'd skip Manuel Antonio and do Arenal instead. Nicaragua was suprisingly awesome.
  • FI was looking into Manuel Antonio, but then decided against it. I'm going to have to write down everything you told me and give it to him!

I had no idea where to start, so I bought a couple travel books for him and let him go to town. :)
  • LVB, if you hold out to September, we're going to NOLA.  *wriggles eyebrows*
  • Why don't you go in May or June??

  • I went to Chicago in April one year and it was beautiful.  I went to Chicago in May the next year and it was chilly and kind of rainy.  If/when we go again, I'll defininely aim for the summer to guarantee really good weather because I just want to be outside all the time in Chicago.  I would pick Chicago over NYC any day of the week.  But maybe because I'm closer to NYC so it doesn't hold as much appeal or whatever.

  • Cause that's not when H's conference is!
  • I can vouch for the cheap bars up North this way. It is great every time I go to a bar outside the city limits, we can spend like $20 for the whole night on two of us. Granted, I don't drink much so that is usually J's tab for the most part, but still. ;)

  • Birdie we're FB friends, yes? Cause you can hit me up for any questions you'd like! Oh, and let me tell you this: I'm sure you are aware that it will be hot. No, you're not. Cause it's not hot. It's lava air. LAVA AIR. It's really effing hot and it will melt your face. But the endless cocktails and the pool and the not needing to do anything/be anywhere helped a lot. Also, the cuatis. Cause they're super cute.
  • LVB PM me if you want to see about possibly getting a Friends & Family rate at a Marriott.

    I think we are!

I'm excited about the hot. I will be ready for hot in November. I'm excited about the hotel with jacuzzi's on the patios that overlook the ocean.

FI was sad though that a lot of the hotels down there do double queens instead of one king size bed. He's NEVER cared about the bed situation before! I guess it's because it's the "honeymoon" <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
