Snarky Brides

Aww sadness

I'm watching 10 Things About You and I'm sad because:

1) Its not as good as I remember

and

2) I still get sad when I see Heath Ledger.

...okay but the teacher is still funny as hell.

  • I legitimately cried when Heath Ledger died. What an amazing actor.
  • I loved that lady in Juno.

  • Whatever happened to Larisa Oleynik, AKA Alex Mack?
  • The day he died, he was the only thing anyone talked about.  Poor Heath.

YES. Along with Schuyler Fisk and Rachel Leigh Cook!
  • I find Julia Stiles the most annoying in this movie.

I think Joseph Gordon Levitt is cute in this.  I thought he was cute in 500 Days of Summer. Even though it was the most emo movie I've ever seen since Garden State.

  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt. -drool- He's in talks to be The Riddler in the next Batman movie.

Anyone see "Mysterious Skin"? My favorite JGL movie.

That's an interesting pick for the Riddler. I've never seen Mysterious Skin.

  • It's SO good. Very f*ked up and disturbing, but good. He should have been nominated for an Oscar.
  • I'll have to put it on my queue.

Andrew Keegan is so pretty it hurts.  Its freakish, I could never date a guy that pretty.  Well I guess I wouldn't date anyway, I think Nick might be upset with me.
    Photobucket
  • I've only seen Keegan in that movie and "7th Heaven." I read he recently got arrested for domestic abuse. I think.
  • Aww I still think its good
  • Even though he contributed to his death, it was one that really took me by surprise and I cried, too.

It made me remember when River Phoenix died - that was one you almost saw coming, to my recollection.

Any time I see Heath Ledger, I think of this song:

So many others, you can see coming. Others, you wonder, how on earth are they still alive?

My favorite Heath Ledger movie (next to Dark Knight) was A Knights Tale. But I'm not sure he made a bad one.

  • I think Heath's performance in "Brokeback Mountain" is one of the most stunning I'd ever seen. Again, another person who should have won an Oscar but didn't.
  • I loved Brokeback Mountain.  I thought it was such a great story.  My MIL thought I was crazy when I said that, however, she also has a case of the homophobias.

My sister and I keep waiting to hear about Lindsay Lohan kicking the bucket.  I think she'll just end up looking like Keith Richards by the time she's 30.

  • I thought "Brokeback Mountain" was one of the best films of the past decade. I actualy cried when it lost the Best Picture Oscar to "Crash." I cry a lot, evidently.
  • I just watched 10 Things the other night, and was really filled with sadness. I actually really enjoy the movie in general, but I don't think I'm ever going to stop being sad about Heath Ledger. His performance in Brokeback Mountain was such a revelation, and I was looking forward to growing up with him and watching him grow as an actor. I can't believe I only have these few performances to cherish.

I felt the same way. The fact that it lost was blatant homophobia on the part of members of the Academy, who actually admitted that they hadn't watched the film.

It's silly, but that scene where Heath Ledger is eating the pie and Linda Cardellini comes in is one of my favorites. The way he's eating that pie so slowly and deliberately, you can tell he can barely taste it because he is too depressed.

It's funny because "Brokeback" clearly had the upper hand - it won directing over "Crash." It just makes me mad because I think "Crash" is such an inferior film. In twenty years, it's going to be so outdated whereas "Brokeback" will always has resonance, I think.

I love Linda Cardellini in that movie. And Anna Faris too.

Yeah, the badness of Crash really gets to me, especially in comparison to Brokeback Mountain. It doesn't really have any original ideas or performances, whereas everyone in Brokeback turns in the performances of their careers.

I get a nosebleed thinking about the 2005 Oscars.
