Help! Escort Cards

I'm trying to figure out if we need escort cards or not. We are doing a buffet and my FH thinks we don't need to do assigned seating. Should we still do escort cards for people to mark their own seats?

You should assign tables but specific seats are not necessary.

i would do them, I am getting married in a month and im finding it to be the best thing to do. I bought mine from michaels and will print my own

Assign people to a specific table, but let them choose their own seats. Especially with a buffet, this option is good because guests will feel like they have their "own" seat - they might be worried about someone taking their spot while they're in line for food if tables were not assigned.

Are you trying to ask if you should have cards for people to notify their seat is "taken" or "reserved" while their up doing other things like dancing, getting food, etc.? If so, I have been back and forth on that very same question. I'm leaning towards doing it but I just don't want it to be a waste.

I would do what jagore08 said. That is what I am doing too. Place Cards are really inexpensive at Hobby Lobby, Michaels (as said above) and 123print.com. (If you do go through an online website like 123print.com - make sure to type the company into www.retailmenot.com - you can find great discounts sometimes!)

Assign tables not specific seats. And instead of escort cards you can always make a poster size seating charts with the guests names listed under which table they will be sitting. Doing it this way at least saves some paper.

I've seen this done too, has the same effect of escort cards but with a lot less work!! If you're having a buffett you don't really need the escort cards since you don't have to indicate meal choices. It will definitely cut down confusion though to assign tables.
